Hello Fiona,

WebSite X5 Evolution 11 will accept projects built with Evolution (or a lesser edition) from version 9 onwards.  It will not accept version 8 projects.

If using version 9 or 10, then go to Step 5 and select the option to 'Export the project'  -  this will produce an IWZIP file which you can then import into version 11 using the 'Import' button on the right-hand side of the opening screen.

WebSite X5 is Windows software...  you may be able to get it to work on iMac by installing Windows emulation software such as 'Parallels'...  e.g. see this thread:

Thanks Paul. I think the original software I have is older than version 8. i did try the export/import solution but it hasn't worked. 

How do I tell what version it is? It only says WebsiteX5.

Hi Fiona,

There are a few ways to determine the version you are using:

• Go to 'Help > About WebSite X5' within the program itself  -  you will see the version number there
• If you are using version 8 or below then the software will produce project files with an .IWP extension  -  these versions are not compatible with version 9 onwards
• View the source code of any of your websites (press 'CTRL' and 'U' in the browser) and look for a line near the top (in the head section) similar to this: <meta name="generator" content="Incomedia WebSite X5 Professional 11.0.7.30 - www.websitex5.com" />
