Can I create anchor text to go with links assigned to image objects? And if so is this what the description tab is for? The screenshot attached shows an image object I'm using as a link button to another page by assigning a link to it which I would also like to add anchor text to..

The anchor is to create a link to an object in a any page.
(you caan set an anchor to an object and then use the link option to go to that object)
The description tab, - i think you mean the one in the link option- is to give you a pop up when hovering the link that provides extra information about the link you made.
CCheck also the help in x5, it very good, just press F1 whenever you have questions.

Thanks Andre, I understand that, but that's not really what I'm asking. I'm not talking about the anchor option, but rather the use of anchor text for a link attachment. I ask because I got an error message on an seo report saying internal links had no anchor text and it is that I want to fix.
you ask about alternative text. Right click on the photo / images properties
Ro is right, I think.
Else make a prtscrn of the message here. Or just try to add alternative text and test again.

It was actually not the alt text but rather the roll over image title text the sites were counting, so all sorted, thanks
