A) Suggestions to Improve Editing in X5

Editing is by far the worst aspect of X5. Having gone so far towards making it a WYSIWYG environment, Incomedia has failed to provide a good edit. Each time a new version comes out, we dish out another $120 or so and await with open eyes: the editor is the same.

Frankly, I am a developer, and I cannot see how you can improve it. It needs a complete change, but I leave that to you:

1) Add buttons to raise / lower font size

2) Allow copying from outside X5 into it AND from one page to another to retain formatting.

1. a) Links are not retained (Email, website, etc.). Currently, if you copy and paste a text with links hidden behind text or images, they are pasted as text.
2. b) Images are dropped. It looks like pure text copy which it should not be.

 3) Tables editing is atrocious.

1. You cannot select columns.
2. Selecting rows, whole table or several cells together is possible. BUT what is the use? You cannot format them when multiply selected. You cannot delete their content. You have to format or delete the content of each cell on its own. Even a right click does not have the DELETE item in the menu.
3. There is no brush/paint formatting. Each cells has to be reformatted on its own. (This applies to text too).

4) Allow copy paste of images from a page to another page AND from products outside X5 to within its pages. No need to import.

5) Please introduce some short cuts. And if you do, especially in the editor, please follow industry standards. Why not use Control K to enter a hyperlink?

6) When the text is in a size such as 14, and I select 4 phrases and choose to use auto numbering, the auto-numbering comes out in a smaller font. (Same for bullets).

B) When Editing a Mail Form: the Multiple Entry - - -

1) Please allow us to import the list of options. It is tiresome to enter the items one by one.  It should also allow copy and paste as often, on the same website, we might have the same mailer and it is not possible to simply copy the Multiple Entry on its own.

2) When you click on an entry, it should go into “edit” mode. (Or even press F2, like in most applications). Right now, each line has to be selected then we click EDIT.

C) Exporting and Uploading

Inspire of the rearrangement of the 5 steps, nothing was done about Step 5 which remains a very awkward way of working. 

It is a horror. There are 3 activities that I always complete one after the other. (I wonder if other people skip any): exporting via ftp to the server, saving the project, exporting the project (compression).

1) I counted, and got bored, more than 12 clicks to complete these 3

2) Worse still, I had to wait between them as many had useless confirmations such as confirming completion, etc.

Suggestion, keep the 3 options for those who like them. It should be easy to place all these options, with their various questions (do you want to overwrite, etc.) on one page. One can preset them (X5 should remember them). One click would do it all without waiting transfixed in front of the screen.

D) Othe Items

1) Even though I click to export only those pages that changed, X5 exports ALL pages whenever there is a minor change in the menu. Can something be done about this?

2) Wordpress? Why not?

I hope you will agree that these are really need and have been needed since v9.
