Menu problem transferring from v13 to v14

Please look at http://www.bcorchestra.org.uk/
In version 13 the menu lined up nicely in the main left hand bar of the template.
Now that (white) bar only shows three horizontal lines. If you click on them (but it is not immediately clear that you should) the menu pops up in the background area of the page.
How can I get the menu back into the main left - white - verticle menu area please?

Hi Duncan,
I had the same problem with a project with vertical menu. Try to enlarge the size of the buttons on the lateral bar.
See my screenshot in attachment... Sorry, I've only the french version.

Thanks for that. It doesn't seem to solve the problem.
I have juststarted a new project. I started with a standard template and that is just showing the menu as bars in the menu space; not Page 1 Page 2 etc as expected.
Grateful for further ideas.

Actually, I think that the current buttons are to big for the object space. Try to change the size of the menu object so the buttons will fit.

Well - I've fixed it but I am not sure what I did :)
Maybe the menu cell was too small.
