Google Sitemoa HTML Error  en

Автор: Kurt W.

I encountered an error after submitting my pages to Google Search Console, it said:

"Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.".

There was another error on one of the pages:

"We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.".

I am using V16 Pro. Is the sitemap generated by Website X5 not supported by Google? Is there a workaround?

Hello Kurt W.

When your publish your website through Website X5 it asks you to Submit your sitemap on Google. Click on it then you will be redirected to Google Search Console page and your sitemap.xml should be automatically submitted by Website X5.

You can do it manually.

Visit Google Webmaster Page - https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ To add a new property or verify your website to Google just click on Add a property>Then enter your website url like http://www.yourwebsite.com>Then you will be redirected to verification page>There you will see that Google recommends you to download a HTML verification file>Download it>Then open your Website X5 Pro>Go to step 5-Export>Now upload the html file you have downloaded>Then export it again>Now click on Add your Sitemap to Google>Your sitemap will be published successfully

If you want to upload your sitemap manually then after verification of your website by google click on your website in the Search Console page>Then click on the Crawl (appears in left side bar)>Select Sitemaps>Click on Add/Test Sitemap>Then just enter sitemap.xml>Then submit>Then refresh the page and you will see your sitemap updated successfully

Do remeber that sitemap appears as sitemap.xml nor in html and the sitemap generated by Website X5 is supported by Google.

If you have more query regarding this, keep asking

Thank you

Alternatively You can follow these steps.

First Publish your website via Website X5>Then open your browser>visit https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/> Sign in with your gmail account> You will be asked to enter your website url (see attachment below)>Enter your website url as http://www.yourwebsite.com> You will be redirected to Google Search Console Page> Now you will be asked to Download this HTML verification file > Download it> Now see where this file has been downloaded (generally it downloads in the downloads folder) > Now minimize your browser (don't close it just minimize)> Open your Website X5 Pro Software> Now select your project and Start> Now go to the Step 5-Export> Enter your FTP Details and Next> There you will see  this (upload file to server)> Click on the icon and when an windows open select the HTML verification file you have downloaded from Google Search Console> Then click on the open in that window> You will see that the file has been uploaded like google713e01234b7.html> Now select Start and wait while your website is uploading> After publish go to Maximize your browser> You will see that '3.Confirm successfully uploaded by visitng http://www.yourwebsite.com/google713e01234b7.html in your browser'> Click on it and you will be redirected to a new window that your file has been uploaded successfully> Now came back to the previous window and click on Verify> Now upload your sitemap form Website X5 or manually as I have mentioned above.

You can also use a third party generator such as xml-sitemaps.com; then ftp the file it generates to your website. Filezilla is a good ftp tool.
