Any ideas why i get this error on saving to any folder?

I have an old version of websote x5 evo 12, it's worked for years, but when i started a new project this morning it is failing to save the project to any folder and shows the following error.
Does anyone know why it's doing this and how to fix it.

Mark, if you go to step5Export. Export the project - does that work??
Does this happen with every new project you start or only this one (& can we assume that other older projects can be opened and saved?)
Have you ever uploaded this site to the internet (in which case a backup should exist)
Are you working totally locally or are you accessing content for inclusion on your site from the cloud, network or USB device?
Please let us know.
