Text box scrolling on mobile devices issue
Автор: Luis F.I'm using v.17.0.12 of Website X5 Pro.
The scrollbars on a regular desktop screen do show up, but they do not once you rezise (responsive design) the browser, or if viewing the site on a mobile device.
Before, the scrollbars will not show on mobile devices BUT at least you could scroll the content by swiping up and down with your finger over the text box which did retained the intened size.
NOW, Feb. 2019, after the last Website X5 update the text box size simply gets streached out vertically until all the text is displayed making a very long page to view...
I tried all the settings for the text box inside "content" and "style" and "rollover settings" etc. to no avail.
This same issue happened a few month ago and it was fixed (no scrollbars showed up on smaller screens but the text box retained it's intended size and users were able to scroll through the contents of the text box) and now is back again...
Please see attached sample project file.
You can also recreate this issue yourself... start a new responsive design project and before adding anything else simply place a text box and add a lot of text... enable the scrollbars under "rollover settings" and after you see that it won't work, then experiment any other way you want with all the settings and it will not work....
Please, can this be fixed permanently?
Can one department of Incomedia talk to the other(s) so that when implementations happen at one end it will not ruin the other? Please?
I do professional sites for a living and this is not only embarrasing but discouraging... I want to stay with Website X5, but this is making me think serioulsly to switch to Mobirise instead.
How can I fix this fast? I can code HTML, CSS, etc... so don't be affraid of asking me to enther manual code some place. I've tried that, but since I don't know the internal proprieatry programming of Website X5 it's a hit-and-miss... unlike Mobirise which will accept standard coding.
I apologize for this long compalint here, but I'm very frustrated and anoyed by this one glitch (and another one I discussed in another thread about flickering images in responsive design)... other than that, I really like Website X5 and I really would like to keep on using it.
Please help, and thank you.
ps. Please, and forgive me for being so upfront, if you find/have the solution, can you please provide the example? It's very anoying when people sugest solutions but they don't test it themselves. Again, excuse me for being so upfront.
Luis, I have marked your post for attention by Incomedia, your example project clearly demonstrates that the scroll bar does not appear below desktop resolution because the height attribute is ignored.
Since you have professional and whilst you wait for them to (again) fix this feature, have you considered using multiple tabs in a text box and setting them as a manual slide show (this works at all resolutions).
I have attached an example project (please see page 1)

Thanks for replying and escalating this issue.
Yes, I'm aware of the text tabs... at other places (with other web design software vendors), this is called "panels" or "sliding panels", or even "accordion panels"...
However, my clients do request text panels with the scroll bar when they have a big list of the same items... apparently, it is cumbersome to go through many tabs or sliding panels to get to an item at the middle or end of a huge list of items in the same category... using the scrollbar is way faster: two or three seconds as opposed to 20+ seconds.
As I said before, if only Incomedia's departments would talk to each other before they improve/correct one angle of the code...
Or... maybe once this works properly I should never update Website X5 again and I will save the money for the "upgrade protection plan" but if so Inconmedia will not see my money and I will not have new features... or they can stop neglecting this issue permanently and they will see my money and I will be happy that the software works and I also get new features... a win/win... it's up to Incomedia.
For now, all my websites look so... "elongated", because of the text box issue.
I'll wait.
Thanks for helping and replying.
Hi Luis.
I can confirm that after the latest modifications to the rollover function, it is the expected behavior that the Rollover will not be displayed on mobile, and the whole text content will be displayed instead.
As this is considered to be the correct process for the functionality as of now, it will probably not be considered as a "bug" but I will nonetheless proceed to reporting the matter to the developers, so that further tweaking for this can be considered in order to improve the way the Object works
I thank you for your feedback on this
Stefano
Wrong. The Rollover works fine on mobile (v 17.0.12).

Thanks Stafano G.
Now I have to think of an alternate method since this Website X5 behavior for text boxes will not do... I will either have to insert an HTML fragment with code for a parallax text box which will do as I need, or some other drop-down arrow option or even a CSS drop down list button, etc. My reason for using Website X5 is so that I don’t have to “code” and therefore save time... hummmm.
How else can a business display a "list" of items or options without polluting the mobile screen? Having all the items on the mobile screen will make a very long page, especially if there are several of this text boxes needed.
Thanks for your help Stefano G. I'll move on.
p.s. Bjorn, it does not work. You simply have very little text in that text box. It's ok. I decided to do it in a more reliable manner.
(It > En) ... ... sorry, I do not have the program ...
... you can put the LINK here
of the page containing the rollover
so I can check? ...
bye ciao
