W5 2019 stops working with some error and strange file is generated.

Software crashes & when reopened; strange file is generated with no data in it. All work & efforts taken goes waste.

And the funniest part is... it happened in case of my own website. :)

Feeling crazy. :(

Please help.

Have you checked your PC for Malware (malwarebytes), Virus, etc??

When you start your PC, does it display the correct time and date?? (dead BIOS battery??)

Your screenshot of 2 different projects has extremely odd properties.

Hopefully you have at least one (many would be better) iwzip files created by going to step5, Export Project.

Mandar - where did these projects come from? Are they from earlier versions of WX5? Did the projects get created by importing them??

No project should be dated 01.01.0001 and there never was a version 1.0.0.0 of WX5

If the projects came from an earlier version, please open that version and see if you can import the iwzip, if so, open v2019 and import again.

If you copied the project folders from an earlier version into documents\incomedia\website x5 - pro this will not work.

Phantom project files with properties and time stamps like that can appear when WebSite X5 has had to close unexpectedly on account of a crash.  These files always seem to be missing the miniaturised template preview that others show in the Project Selection screen.

The actual/original project will be further up the list, in the portion not visible on the screenshot.

What I do in this circumstance is immediately delete the additional 'project' from the Project Selection screen, as the original is always intact and accessible.  This has been my experience at least, and I have had a few of these phoney files in the past.

Anyway, I'm paranoid about backups and obsessively create an IWZIP file about every fifteen minutes whilst working, so I know I will never lose much time or effort if the worst happens.

And that would be my advice to you, Mandar.  Backup regularly.  It's just good practice, no matter what software you're using.  And by backup, I mean export an IWZIP file in Step 5.  This is the best form of backup in WebSite X5.  I have never lost a project in many years of working with WebSite X5 by adhering to this strategy.

As to the cause of the crash, you would need to locate the details shown on the error message just before the software closes, and post them here for Incomedia and/or ourselves to analyse.

Kind regards,

Paul
