Removing unavailable product from Product List of the Shopping Cart.  en

I am working on a webpage, on which only unique products will be sold. By unique I mean that only one product is available for sale, and once sold, the product needs to be immediately removed from the Product List.

When product is available for sale (with quantity = 1) such message appears:

Once the product has been purchased different message appears:

Both are 100% correct.

So, at this point, this product needs to be removed from the Product List.

  • Does the page owner need to access WSX5 and remove it manually?
  • Or is there a way to the object to “disappear” automatically?

Hello Tom,

I know exactly what you mean.

Unfortunately there is no way to achieve this automatically using the software's features, for the time being at least.  Any redundant products need to be removed manually in the Product List.

In my humble opinion it would make a good addition to the Shopping Cart to be able to designate a product as a 'one time only', 'single sale' and then have it disappear from the database completely once it has been sold.

However, I can think of reasons why this might not have been done (to date).  WebSite X5 keeps records of past products/sales for statistical purposes, for the benefit of the website administrator.

If you like we can set your thread as an 'Idea' to ask that Incomedia consider a modification to the Shopping Cart to suit your user case?

Kind regards,

Paul

Thank you for your input, Paul! It's great when Moderator agrees with the "regular" user...

Please, make it an idea for Developers to consider.smile

It's a good idea, Tom.  I'm thinking particularly of private sellers with used/antique/vintage items, who want to set up an online store of their own as an alternative to using eBay, for example.  It makes perfect sense to track availability right up to the point of sale (to avoid two people purchasing the same item) but there really is no need to retain such unique merchandise in the database once the transaction is complete.

Yes, these products can be deleted from the catalogue manually, but your suggestion would be a nice refinement for ease of use.

I've set this thread as an 'Idea'.
