Catalog Viewer contents displayed in low resolution  en

Hi, and thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

I am buiding a website for an online magazine.  The catalog Viewer seemed the obvious choice to display the magazine on the screen.  However, even when in Full-screen mode, the quality of both the written text, and pictures, is pretty poor.

I have previously used an alternative product.  I can revert to this, but the management / admin would be simpler if I used the WSX5 object - Catalog Viewer.

I have looked into the system, but cannot find any selections / choices that affect the quality of the end product - the magazine, so am unsure if there's anything that I can do at my end.

I also checked the native files on the uploaded website, and WSX5 seems to have uploaded my PDF file at the same size as the file I have on my local disk.

To narrow down the problem, I loaded the Flip-PDF system onto my web-page, so I could do side-by-side comparisons in the same browser.

This is what I found.  MS-Published (original source) quality is very good, and the same quality shows on the PDF-Flip version.  The WSX5 version displays in low-quality.

I checked on the WSX5 example website, Artisan Way, and although it's not directly comparable, the quality there seems pretty good too.

I've attached screenshots of each of these to demonstrate the quality differences.

Please let me know if there is any way of improving the quality displayed.

Thanks again, Jem

There are no attachements.

anyway, check the size in the catalog viewer, maybe you should step this up a little bit?

and keep the ratio of the file the same as the pdf, os if your pdf is 100x75

see that x5 sets 1000 x 750 but not 1000x500 (for instance)

properties of pdf can be found in a pdf reader -> file -> properties -> first TAB

hopefully this helps.....

All of the other versions (MS Publisher, Acrobat etc.) display as per the PDF-Flip.

I tried setting my ratio to match the PDF file.  Acrobat reports the page size as 8.27 x 11.69 inches, so I set my ratio in the viewer object setup to 827 by 1169.  Made no difference I'm afraid.

Hi Andre.  I tried various combinations of sizes which were matched to the ratio of my document, both as a single page and in two-page view.  I tried small and large combinations of the above, but none had any effect on the displayed effect, which remains as if the doc is displayed in low resolution.  Pics and text are indistinct as per the attached examples.

ok, thanks for the feedback.

I got 1 idea left, but normaly it can not be the case, anyway it's worth a check.

goto step 1 and select advanced TAB, check ik in the website optimization the settings for imiges optimization are set to none.

Else you can also send me the pdf and i will take a look for you, mail is in my avatar.

Hi Andre, I think that did the trick.  The display isn't quite up to that of PDF-Flip, but it's near enough.

In my case, setting the ratios didn't seem to do much, but I had image optimisation set to medium.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers, Jem
