Access Management/Password Protection Not Working in "Preview" Mode …  en

Hi All,

I am almost finished designing and laying out my first website using Website X5 Pro.  I want to say that the feedback to my precious questions on this user forum have been fantastic - and I honestly could not have gotten to the point I am at without your help- so thank  you!!!! :-)

I have a few additional questions, and to keep things simpler I will post them one by one.

This first question has to do with the "access management" features.   There is really only one page of my website that I want to password protect - a page that contains my personal contact information that I don't want just anyone surfing the web, or some type of "bot" to scrape the information and have it be stored forever by Google, or have my contact information used or sold for advertising and spam purposes.

I don't want to make potential website users have to go through a "registration process" to gain access to this page- I just want to be able to give the people I want to have access to it the credentials needed to be able to "log in" and access that protected page.

Taking some of your previous excellent advice, I created a bogus email address and simple password that I can easily give the people who I wish to have access to that page this email address and password so that they may log into that protected page and access the information.

I haven't completed my website or "published" it yet, but one thing that concerns me is that in the "preview" mode, the one protected page that I set up the access managements on is not asking for an email and password before I can preview it.  Is this normal (in preview mode), and should I expect that when I actually do publish the website that when someone does try to access this protected page, the "access management" will work, asking them for a username and password?  Alternatively, should "access managements" be working even in unpublished, "preview" mode, as well (if so, in this case I must be doing something wrong with the "access managements").

If someone would please reply and let me know if what I am experiencing in an unpublished website during "preview mode" (not asking for username and password to access "content controlled" page) is normal, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much for all of your help, replies and support.  I really appreciate it, and could not have gotten to the point I am at with my website without all of your help.

Thanks,

Cfguy

Maybe first use "Lorem ipsum" text and upload it, then test it online and if everything is protected, then only use the right content.

Hi - thanks for your reply - and not a bad idea!  Still would like to know if the "password protected" pages(s) are supposed to be functional during "preview" mode, before publishing website.  Maybe someone can share some insight on this.  However, your idea is a good start and "workaround" until we know for sure. :-)

Thanks,

No. Le pagine protette come specificato nell'anteprima NON funzionano...

Saludos
