How to add code into the header or footer

im working with someone who has given me a html code for a virtual assistent for my website
he says i should add this to either the header or the footer
can someone show me how to do this thanks.

go to the template settings, go to the footer or stay in the header, select the arrow next to the categories option, select main categories, drag the HTML code icon to the footer or header, click on this object and paste the code, html and in the advanced tab paste the CSS style code and indicate below where there is an additional file, e.g. javascript code or other html code needed for operation
