I am using X5 Pro on Windows 11. I did the latest update from Microsoft and lost everything. I had to register program again. Lost all projects. How do I get them back? I went to the file where they were saved but it was blank. I did see IWPRJ file but don't know how to get it loaded.

In WebSite X5, click on "Settings" and check whether the found project file is in the specified project directory - if not, then adjust the project directory or move the project file there.
Perhaps other users, the moderators or the Incomedia staff can provide further tips.
For safety reasons, you should always create a backup copy (file extension .iwzip) with WebSiteX5 under “5 Export > Export project” and save it on an external drive or USB stick.

For the future - connect the "Incomedy" folder or the folder of a separate site that is important to you to the cloud storage. Then you will not be afraid of any equipment breakdowns.
Hello Pavel,
if the cloud-based system has some connection issues this can also lead to a loss of data.
My recommendation would be to periodically make backups through the "Export the project" function and store the resulting IWZIP files on external storage devices.
David, what were you able to find?
Folders with a structure such as this?

The folders were the first 5 folders but no files below them when I tried to use the default path. When I go to my directory I see the folders and files but cannot access them within the x5 program.
And if you search for the directory in WebSite X5 in the settings using the folder icon, can you not find the correct directory?

I can find the directory but it only shows the folders and not the files from the pic Eric showed.
This window in WebSiteX5 only shows the folders and subfolders, no files, this is normal.
The files can only be seen in Windows Explorer.

When I try to import the file it is looking for is .iwzip and I cannot change that. I tried the change the preference to the project file that has an project.iwprj.2 but it does not work. Can I take that folder the project.iwprj2 file is in and make it a .iwzip file so that I can import it? Would that work?
The iwzip files serve as backup copies and can be imported.
The projects are displayed as thumbnails in WebSiteX5.
The project folders are stored in the directory specified in the WebSiteX5 settings.
To find the project folders in WebSiteX5, you must specify the directory where the project folders are located.

I found the project folder and zipped it. Then I changed the file extension from .zip to iwzip. I tried to import it and the file showed up on the list BUT when I tried to open it an error message of "error, unknown file type" came up. Any suggestions?
Once the project folder has been found, determine the path on your hard drive to the folder containing the project folder.
This path must be entered in WebSiteX5 under "Settings" (gear icon). Then the projects will also be displayed as thumbnails.
See also my screenshots in the posts above.

I did that and the only folders showing are Backup, Library, Preview, and Upload. There are no other files showing in the projects folder opened by x5.
However, when I open with explorer it not only shows those four folders but also
Can the contents (folders and files) of the second screenshot be copied and pasted into a folder (e.g., my-project)?
And can the "my-project" folder then be pasted into the "WebSite X5 - Pro" folder?
For "Project folder", the folder containing the project folder(s) must be at the end.

They are already copied in the project folder.
The Incomedia staff will be back online on Monday, so maybe they can explain it better.
This is what my test page looks like with the folders and files on the hard drive, see screenshot below

That is what I show as well on my hard drive. However, I oly show the five folders that you see in your pic and none of the files when I select the preferences (settings) option. I also uninstalled my version and reinstalled a downloaded version from website X5 and it did not help. Thank you for your help and time today!
Your screenshot shows not only the folders, but also the files. Which folder contains the contents of the screenshot?
This folder should be located on the far right in WebSiteX5 under "Settings" (gear icon) under "Project Folder".
I can't explain it any better, maybe other users, the moderators or the Incomedia staff can.
Here's an example of my test page again:
1) Project folder with subfolders and files
2) Settings in WebSite X5
3) Displaying the project as a thumbnail

Hello David,
could you please take some screenshots to give a better idea of the current situation?
In the Preferences, what has been set as the Projects folder? In this screenshot I see that the folder of a specific project has been specified, have you then reverted this back to something like C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Pro ?
You should have all of the folders with these contents
placed into C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Pro (or another folder you have created, if you prefer).

I am rebuilding my website. Not a bad idea because I think I can make it better. I now have the new website thumbnail and am updated it just fine. However, I am having trouble exporting it to the internet. I use a third party provider. I have all the information from them I think I need except I can't connect to the server. I think it has something to do with the destination folder. I filled out all the parameters like FTP address, username and password but still no connection. I did not use the data management tab. Is it required? Also, I thought I had free hosting but there is no activation button on step 5.
Hello,
what error are you getting, specifically, and what settings are you using? Usually providers have guidelines about what format the root directory or destination folder should have, some common ones are /public_html and / followed by the name of the domain, for example
The Data Management tab is necessary only if your project is using functions that require a database, otherwise it can be ignored.

I have the problem fixed now except I still do not have the activate button for hosting. The problem was the URL of my website. My provider and others said it was www.napa-missouri.com, which is true, but Website X5 wanted https://www.napa-missouri.com Simple change but worked. Still rebuilding my website but it will be better than before. Thank you all for your help.
Hello David,
regarding our hosting, you currently do not have one: your last renewal was of your licence alone, and the hosting space has expired on November 13th, 2024
