Bug Report – Internal Anchor Links Stopped Working After Updating to website X  en

Dear Incomedia Support Team,
I would like to report a serious issue that appeared immediately after updating WebSite X5 Pro from version **2026.2.8 to 2026.3.5**.

**Problem description:**
After the update, internal anchor links used to jump to specific sections of the same page stopped working.
My website contains many long technical articles with a quick navigation menu at the beginning of each page. Users can click a link to jump directly to the corresponding section of the article.
This functionality worked perfectly in version 2026.2.8, but it no longer works in version 2026.3.5.

**Tests performed:**
1. The issue occurs on multiple existing pages, including articles about Roblox, Waydroid and Linux gaming.

2. Internal anchor links do not work in the built-in WebSite X5 preview.

3. Internal anchor links also do not work in external web browsers when opening the newly exported HTML pages locally.

4. I tested the exported pages using the same browser and computer where everything worked correctly before the update.

5. I attempted to force a complete preview regeneration by holding down the Ctrl key while opening the preview, but this did not resolve the issue.

6. The affected articles, including Roblox, Waydroid and Linux gaming, were originally created in WebSite X5 Pro 2026.2.8, where all internal anchor links worked correctly. After updating the software to version 2026.3.5, the anchor links in these same existing articles stopped working, both in the built-in preview and in locally exported HTML pages. No changes were made to the anchors or their hyperlinks.

**Important information:**
I have not modified or recreated the existing anchors or their hyperlinks. The problem appeared immediately after upgrading to version 2026.3.5.
My website contains more than 100 pages, many of which use internal anchor navigation. Manually recreating all anchors and hyperlinks is not a realistic solution.
Unfortunately, I cannot easily return to the previous working version of WebSite X5.

**Impact:**
This issue prevents me from safely publishing new articles and updating existing pages because internal anchor navigation is an essential part of my website.

**Could you please confirm:**
- Is this a known bug in version 2026.3.5?- Has this issue already been reported by other users?- Is there an official workaround that preserves existing anchors and hyperlinks?- Is a fix planned for an upcoming update?

Please investigate this issue and provide a solution that does not require manually rebuilding existing anchor links.

Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,
Miroslav Zakřevský  Czech Republic

The Incomedia staff should contact you here from Thursday onwards during office hours and may request the project as a backup file (file extension .iwzip).

Hi Miroslav, go to your profile, then “My Licences” and “Download”. Click “Other versions” to download the previous version.

Hello Miroslav,
I am sorry about the issue.
This is not a known bug and has not been noticed by us during testing, not reported by other users during the Preview or Beta phases.
Could you please provide me with a copy of the project to examine the situation?
If you still have a copy of it that remained at version 2026.2 it would be the best option, so that we can compare the situation before and after conversion. If you have a project folder of it, you can archive it as a .zip or .rar file.
You can then upload either the archive or the IWZIP backup file with SwissTransfer, TransferNow or similar services, and provide a download link to support @ incomedia.eu (without the spaces).
Thank you, I remain available.

Hello,

Thank you for your advice on how to return to the previous version of WebSite X5 Pro 2026.2.8.

I followed your instructions. In my user profile, I opened the "My Licences" section, then selected "Download" and used the "Other versions" option to download the installer for version 2026.2.8.

The installation was successful, but the program was installed in a different location from the original installation. Since I did not want to have two separate WebSite X5 installation folders on my computer, I allowed the installation to complete and then manually moved the contents of the newly created installation folder to the original location.

After launching the program, I reactivated my licence. I then removed the existing project and imported the last working project backup created with version 2026.2.8.

The import completed without any issues, and after checking the individual web pages, I can confirm that all internal anchors and their corresponding hyperlinks are working correctly again.

This result strongly suggests that the issue was related to the update to version 2026.3.5, as the anchor functionality was restored after returning to the previous version and restoring the original project.

I no longer have version 2026.3.5 installed. For the time being, I have blocked the program's internet access and do not plan to install any further updates for quite some time. I can now continue working on my website project.

Thank you once again for your assistance and for providing a way to return to the previous working version.

Best regards,

Miroslav Zakřevský

Hello Miroslav,
would you be able to provide a copy of the project anyway, so that we could investigate the situation?
As this kind of error has not been reported by anyone so far, we were not aware of such a possible issue, and are not working on a fix, but we can examine the issue if we also replicate this after converting your project.
Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply and for your willingness to investigate the issue with internal anchor links.

I would like to provide some additional information that may help identify the cause of the problem.

My website project, Linux pro domácnost, is quite extensive. The IWZIP backup file is approximately 2.8 GB in size, and the website's sitemap.xml currently lists 220 unique web pages.

Preparing a smaller test project would require creating a separate copy and then removing most of its content. This would be a time-consuming process, and I cannot be certain whether the anchor link issue would still occur after removing the other pages.

Therefore, I would like to suggest an alternative approach.

Below are links to four existing web pages where I experienced problems with internal anchor links after updating to WebSite X5 Pro 2026.3.5:

1. WAYDROID on Linux
https://linux-doma.cz/waydroid-na-linuxu.html

2. ROBLOX on Linux
https://linux-doma.cz/roblox.html

3. How to Play Games on Linux in Zorin OS
https://linux-doma.cz/jak-hrat-hry-na-linuxu-zorin-os.html

4. Gaming on Linux
https://linux-doma.cz/hry-na-linux.html

Important clarification: These pages are still available online in their original, fully functional form, generated using WebSite X5 Pro 2026.2.8 or an earlier version.

If you open these pages in a web browser, you will see that the internal anchors and hyperlinks in the quick navigation menus work correctly.

However, after updating the same project to version 2026.3.5, the anchor links on these pages stopped working, both in the built-in preview and in the newly exported website files.

As mentioned in my previous message, I have returned to version 2026.2.8 and restored the last working project backup. All internal anchor links are now working correctly again.

I no longer have version 2026.3.5 installed, and I have deleted the exported files generated by that version that exhibited the problem. I do not currently plan to reinstall version 2026.3.5, as I need to continue working on my website.

Could you please let me know whether these publicly available pages might at least be useful for a preliminary analysis of the anchor structure and how the anchors were generated in the previous version of WebSite X5?

Alternatively, I would appreciate any suggestions for another approach that would not require sharing the entire source project.

Thank you for your understanding and for your assistance so far.

Best regards,

Miroslav Zakřevský

Hello Miroslav,
as these pages are from the 2026.2.8 version and the anchors work normally here, unfortunately we would not be able to gather information on the issue you have encountered.
You would not need to create a smaller test project to send, in any case, and providing the full version would also likely lead to more accurate results, so you can simply generate the full IWZIP, only omitting backup/preview files, and upload it as described.
Thank you.

Hello,

I have decided to provide you with a complete copy of my Linux pro domácnost project to help investigate the internal anchor link issue.

I have created a new IWZIP export of the project, which is 1.5 GB in size, using the following settings:

  • Include a copy of the website preview files – disabled

  • Include backup copies – disabled

  • Optimize project resources – disabled

The project has therefore not been optimized or otherwise modified.

Once I have uploaded the file to my server, I will send you the download link privately by email to ***.

Please confirm once you have successfully downloaded the project so that I can remove the file from my server.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards,

Miroslav Zakřevský
