Hello Alex,
You need to add the login Widget to the Page in Step 3 withthe "HTML and Widget Object" selectin the login script.
In preview you can see the page directly but once only it will be visible only when entered the user and password.
Can you please explain me better the second question?

Hello Alex,
When you start WebSite X5, open the "Advanced Settings" and change the E-mail form scrypt type to "low quality server script" and then export the project again and test it to see if the email are sent. If it's not working try the "Low level script" and export it again to test it.
