International telephone numbers field in email form

If I want to limit the field in the email form to a telephone or fax number, I am only allowed to include numbers and "-" and " ". In the UK, at least, international dialing codes start with "+". Can I allow that in my field? If not, could it be included or shoudl I majke it a text field?

Hello Duncan,
The international dialing code + is the shorten of 00. The phone/fax number option allows only number and so the phone number has to be written in the expanded form. If you want to allow also the + unfortunately you need to use the text field.

You allow "-" and " " - would it not be possible to allow "+" as well?
