I tried to update 10.1.2.42 on my X5 Pro as per the message given on its front page. It gave an error message saying that update was not possible.
On relaunching X5 Pro again, it gave an error message which I did not save. I had to re-install it.
I tried the same steps again and the same problems took place.
I am running Windows 7 Pro.
Thanks
Akram

Hi Akram,
The same problem happened for me. I solved it by opening the installer to the first step and then using the windows task manager (ctrl + alt + del and select 'start task manager'). I stopped all instances of X5 in the 'processes' except for the X5 updater. After closing the task manager I continued with the update and it was successful.
BTW the update solved a problem I was having with some of the site pictures not being exported to the preview and/or uploading the website - I just had blank frames with the file number in it.
Regards,
Mark.

Dear Mark
Thanks for your hint. I tried it. It did not work. For a start, I did not find any instances of X5 in the task manager processes. I am attaching the top part (sorted descending). I even searched under EVOLUTION and could not find any.
Can you help?
Thanks
Akram
Hi Akram,
Sorry you are still having problems. It is strange you don’t have an X5.exe open in the processes as, for some reason, on my machine the X5.exe stays in the processes once it has been run, even when the program is closed down, and another instance is generated when I open the program again...
As to getting the update to run, I have just remembered that I was logged in as Admin as I couldn’t get it to update as a user using ‘run as admin’. When I first installed the program I couldn’t get it to install that way and had to log in as an admin to get a successful install, so I tried the update the same way – it failed again - so I then looked to see if I could find any instances of the program that hadn’t closed down. I found two instances of ‘WebSiteX5.exe *32’. After closing the two open ‘exe’ the update worked fine for me.
The other way I considered doing the upgrade, which would have worked if the upgrade hadn't worked for me, was to download the entire install file and just overwrite the program, but I didn't really want to do that just in case it over wrote the changes I had made to the setup of the program and I had to waste more time remembering what I had changed to put them back in...
Regards,
Mark.

It worked when I started X5 Pro as an administrator.
Maybe this should be removed OR you should indicate this in the box announcing the update.
Thanks
