How to create menu same like website x5 website

Can some please tell me how to make the horizonatal website menu , just like it is is www.websitex5.com
I want to add opacity to menu background image.
So it becomes slightly transparent.
Secondly website x5 logo that is placed on the menu (its not transparent)
I want to do the same thing.
(I have created a menu icon image and added opacity to it, BUT i want to add opacity/transparency to the menu background image)... i just want it to be like www.websitex5.com trasparent/with opacity, menu.
