Adjusting size of video  en

I have linked an instructional video to one of my products.  When I preview it, it plays fine, but the size is rather small.  As the link is clicked, the window opens, very briefly show the QuickTime logo and the video starts.  However, it is centered in the window, but is too small.  Is there a way to make bigger?  Perhaps even the same size as the pop up window?

Hi Ken.

If you're linking your video to the showbox inside an image, you should be able to input the desired showbox size when selecting the file to show inside it.

Should this not be so, please attach screenshots showing your showbox settings and the practical result.

Let me know

When I go to Template Style and click on the Pop-uo window Showbox icon, another screen opens and the headings are Style, text and Border.  There is nothing regarding size.

If I link the video to the showbox inside the image, again the Quicktime logo first appears and then the video starts.  Again, the video is very small compared to the showbox size.

Hello Ken,

Stefano G.
Hi Ken. If you're linking your video to the showbox inside an image, you should be able to input the desired showbox size when selecting the file to show inside it.

Please see the screenshot attached for an illustration of how to adjust the dimensions of the ShowBox, as per Stefano's instructions.

If the original video source has frame dimensions that are smaller than that specified in your ShowBox settings, then you will need to use video editing software to increase the dimensions.  For example:

Kind regards,

Paul

I understand how to edit the dimensions for the ShowBox size.  It is the video inside the ShowBox which causing me problems.  First it will only play .mp4 videos.  I cannot get .wmv videos to play.

If I select 'Video and Audio' in a Page Selection and select to preview it in the Video/Audio Object screen, I get a 'Couldn't load plug-in' message.  The next line says'Install Media Plugin'.  I do not know what media plugin to install.  Is any of this making sense?

You should always use MP4 file format for maximum compatibility, with the following encoding:

  • Video codec: MPEG-4 H-264 25, 29 or 30 fps
  • Audio codec: MEPG-4 AAC 441000Hz Stereo

Please see the help file for further details:

Okay, I've linked it to an MP4 file and it plays except that it is small in the window.  See attached.

Thanks Ken.

The screenshot you attached doesn't appear to show the video in a ShowBox, but rather a pop-up window.

Since the video is already on YouTube, by far the superior solution would be to stream the video from YouTube in a ShowBox.  This will save you bandwidth on your server (and possibly money too), plus YouTube's servers will almost certainly be faster than your own.

You can do this by setting the link 'Action' from the product image to 'File or URL with ShowBox, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJHrboxftZI'

When you then click on the product image a ShowBox will open, and the video will fill the ShowBox as shown in the screenshot I have attached.

I had it working just as you suggested.  The ShowBox would open and the video would play.  And now when I want to preview the site, when I click on the image and I am directed to the YouTube site and the video plays.  I cannot determine why the ShowBox does not open.  Any suggestions?

Do you mean that when you click on your media link you are now redirected to YouTube in the same browser window?

Is your own site online?  If so can you please post the URL to the page in question...  thanks.

If the site is not online then the only thing I can suggest is to double-check the link 'Action' (in case it has been accidentally altered from 'File or URL with ShowBox'), or alternatively redo the link completely from scratch.
