Aligning menu items

I have just updated my website for 2016. Previously the menu words sat nicely in the middle of the menu tabs but now they seem to have drifted right to the top of the main menu tabs and don't look so nice. I would be grateful for advice.

Remove the following line, which has probably been added in Step 4 Advanced Settings > Statistics, SEO and Code > Expert tab > Custom Code (drop-down menu) > 'Before opening the HTML tag':
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
