Website X5 v.13 problems

When I upgraded to X5 13, I found it full of bugs - importing from X5 12 was a problem with pages being ommitted, uploading omitted the 'index.html' file, so the website wouldn't run, building a new site from scratch didn't work well in the 'responsive' area. So I went back to X5 12.
X5 13 has been a waste of my money. And now I'm being asked to upgrade to X5 14. Why should I do so?
Gepostet am
Brian, please detail the issues you have had converting from V12 to V13.
If you can describe one individual issue per post I am sure we can resolve the issues.
I have carried out many conversions, pages were never lost and the only time the index.html "disappeared" was when it changed to php because of a feature I added to the home page.
Responsive settings are easy, but initially the proceedure is different to V12 because it offers so much more flexibility.
Dear Brian,
I am very sorry to read what you went through and your skepticism in perfectly understandable. Still, I have noticed you did not contact us about the issues you have mentioned above, namely the import and responsive issues. It's a pity, because we could have provided you with the needed support!
If you want to give us the chance of help you now, I kindly ask you to explain us your issues in details on dedicated posts, so we can look into them and find a solution, together.
As to the version 14, don't worry, you will be able to test in October, which I am sure will help you make a decision.
I'm looking forward your reply and I wish you a lovely day.
Dear website x5
I have been unable to import free user template into my proffessional x5 -13 . I downloaded the file as winrar and i have been having issues importing the files and i don't the reasons to that. Please can you explain to me in full details what i need to do in order to import these templates easily without problem. why i can't import the downloaded files?
Elisa, I see the v14 upgrade rather differently and I admit this is purely my personal view due to a set of circumstances probably unique to me.
I began with v10 Professional. A few months later I was invited to purchase an upgrade to v11 Pro which I did. v11 did not damage any of the sites created in v10 so I was happy and admit to enjoy using v11. Just under 2 years later I decided to purchase an upgrade to v12 Pro which I did but it destroyed the sites created in v11 so I never used it. Only a month after that out came v13 and once again, out came the credit card to get v13 Pro. I have never used v13 either because, as I discovered this morning, it does the same as v12 when importing sites created in v11 and the only time I attempted to create a new site with it I found it so different to v11 that I gave up.
X5 has proven to be a very expensive experience for me for more reasons that I gave here, but that's another story. The way I see it though is that it is now 1 year since v13 was released and already we are being asked to buy an upgrade to v14. If instead of issuing a v14 you had released a v13.2 it wouldn't have cost us anything but I guess the reason for bringing out v14 is to make existing customers purchase again because finding new customers has likely become difficult in today's economic environment.
The bottom line is this, and I repeat, this is purely my own personal point of view, but I will NOT be buying v14 as I feel the rape and pillage has gone on long enough. If Incomedia has found things to improve in v13 then they should go ahead and improve them with an updated version of 13, not bring out a v14. And if I look at Brian's post I can see that one really needs to wait a year for the bugs to be worked out in any particular release but by that time we still won't get a stable release because you guys will just release another version.
I'm sorry if I sound rather negative but I have purchased 4 licenses for 1 piece of software in the last 3 years and I think that's more than enough!
Adrian, every users experience is different, but in my experience the things that make a site "mess up" are the features that make the new product better. For instance, once all slide shows etc were in flash, now they are in html5, V11 was not responsive but V12 is and in V13 you have even more control plus parallax background images, the always visible menu became a separate object and the functionality improved greatly from 11->12->13
It sounds also like you were unfortunate in your timing of your purchases, I have only purchased immediately after an upgrade (except for the very first time when I was unaware of the upgrade cycle).
I suspect V14 will offer one or 2 (at least) great new features that I won't want to live without, but if you don't want them hopefully we'll see you in about 12 months when V15 is released :-)
It's quite possible Esahc, although if I couldn't understand versions 12 and 13 I am not sure how I will understand v15? I may be wrong but I get the impression that where X5 is concerned you need to stay with the programme's evolution in order to keep up with the changes in site architecture. There's a significant cost to doing that which, if you intend building sites for others, is probably insignificant. But, if your intention is just to build your own site/s, that cost is somewhat exaggerated ... in my experience.
Another thing that really confused me was all the talk about the importance of responsive sites. The way I understood it was that unless your site was 'responsive' mobile users would not be able to use it. Well I have tried viewing my v11 created sites on my smart phone and my tablet and they appear fine so, other than Flash which my sites don't have, I'm not sure what it is they are supposed to be unable to view?
And a final comment concerning responsive sites is that when they first came out they were different, fresh, and often exciting with their new parallax views. Today most sites seem the same. They all have the same basic structure and in my mind appear to be missing the individual/uniqueness that previous sites had. And when I say that I'm not referring to sites built with templates as they are obviously going to be samish.
It's a shame that Flash went by the wayside as it was probably the best medium for personal creativity. So much could be achieved with it that cannot be done in HTML5. I actually built an entirely new industry based on Flash movies in email which was destroyed when Outlook Express was killed off. The lesson I learned was never to trust your career to any kind of programming as it will be here today, gone tomorrow.
Adrian, it's not that users cannot use non-responsive sites on mobiles (perhaps with much zooming and panning), it's the fact that google actively downgrades you in mobile searches if the site is not responsive.

When you do adopt V12, V13 or V15 we look forward to offering any assistance we can.
Hi Adrian,
I am very sorry to read that you are not fully satisfied with our price policy, especially because you are a long-time user of WebSite X5. By now, this is the best way we have found in order to offer quality and stability, as well as to keep up with the fast changes of the web. Also, please consider that we try to facilitate our users by offering pretty high discount in the launch phase, as well as many other times during the year.
You have mentioned import issues, for which I am very sorry about. If you want to give us the chance of helping you, please feel free to write a different separate post, so we can look into this matter and find a solution together.
Finally, and with reference to the responsive issue, we have focused on the importance of having a responsive website not only because of the importance for the user to visit a mobile-friendly website, but also because today responsive websites tend to be better indexed.
I will be very happy to answer any doubt or question on a dedicated post. Thank you a lot in advance. Kind regards.
