I have redeisgned a website, www.rareboots4u.co.uk and uploaded the new site.
I have tried several times by overwrite files and even upload all files but the old site has now become entwined with new site. Some old sections showing and some new sections not displying at all. It has become a mess.Top picture not showing at all anymore.
The preview however from X5 is perfect, only when uploaded does it go wrong.
Any ideas how i can completely remove all uploads and clean install the website. I have spent hours trying to do this but no luck. I am using X14 pro.
Thanks
Dave
Gepostet am
Dave, can you provide a link to your site. The issue may be as simple as 2 index pages (index.html and index.php, the older one should be deleted).
If you wish to ensure none of you old site exists, you can select files and folder and delete them from the host before doing the upload.

update, it is only the home page that is messed up, the only way to get to the correct home page is to click on some of the other pages then go back to the home page, then it dispalys correctly. Any ideas why it isnt correct from the first time it is opened.
Thanks
The problem will be 2 index files, try go to www.yourdomain.com/index.php and then go to www.yourdomain.com/index.html, one of them is the old one, delete it.

yes, the .html is the wrong one, can you explain where i delet that from
many thanks
Assuming you are using the FTP engine inside WX5, simply export to the internet, and when you see all the files on your host displayed, select index.html and then click the X
(sorry, this is a V12 screen shot, but it should be much the same)

ok did that but still comes up with the wrong home page.
I have exported to web again and checked index.html istn there, only index.php loaded
Dave, you may need to flush the cache in your browser (CTRL F5), or test with a browser you don't use very often.

ikk add a pic of the home page that comes up and the page that should appear first

i have cleared the cache and this is what i get when i do a google search and cick on the website
Dave, I can open http://www.rareboots4u.co.uk/index.php but I cannot open http://www.rareboots4u.co.uk/
A vague recollection tells me this could be related to the htaccess file, but you may be better advised to ask your hosting company (do they have livechat?) than wait for someone here who knows the answer.

ok thanks for trying to help

sorted now, web host said X5 somehow changed the order of /index.html so it wasnt recognised first!
whatever that means, lol
Glad it's fixed - but very much doubt it was WX5

yep, although X5 crashed before uploading and then it was the backup file it created after the crash that got uploaded, all good now
