How do I get comments working?

I'm using v9 and can get the comments field up but when I post a comment I get "There was a problem during the comment insertion." I've pointed it to a folder "/public" with permissions set to 777. What else do I need to do?

Note: this is for the guestbook feature...
Did you checked to see if the folder you typed in while creating the guestbook widget is really created on your server ? Here, I had to manually create the required folder and set it's access permissions to 777. The guestbook widget does not create the required folder. It may depends of the server settings.
Then to make sure that all is ok, after uploading your site, go to www.yourwebsite.com/admin (replace yourwebsite.com by your own url)
Please note that to get in that admin area, you willl have to use the administrator ID and password that you'ill find in Step 4, Advanced Settings, Access management (or something similar, I'm using a French version).
After you log in the admin section of your website, you'll see a menu on the top left of the screen. Click on Website Test. If every thing is green, then all is ok. If you get one or more red messages, you'll have to fix what is wrong.
The admin section is where you'll be able to manage the comments for the blog and the guestbook, if you chose that option while installing those features in your pages.

Thanks for the reply - I didn't know there was an admin section! Very useful.
The folder is definately on the server - I created the folder using filezilla and set permissions to 777.
I've done the website test and all is green including "Server public folder path PASS".
Thought I'd try adding another comment but still get the message "There was a problem during the comment insertion."
I'm a bit stumped now - any other ideas?
As an aside it's interesting to see MySQL in the web tests, I didn't know websitex5 used MySQL...
Same problem, but the message is: Non è stato possibile inserire il commento (It was not possible to write a comment).
All checks are green...
Hi Mirko, please open a new post for that so we can view your URL and your server settings. Thanks!

Hi Steve,
I've got no problem with Mirco posting here, especially as it's related and my problem still isn't fixed... can you offer any help?
Hi Matthew, I suggest you to open a new post (also private if you want) and send us more info (URL, username and password for your Admin panel, etc). I also suggest you to contact your web space provider too, to be sure which is the folder you can use for comments and that have PHP writing mode enabled.
Had a similar problem, make sure that on the General Settings page, that your web URL has a / at the end.
e.g. http://www.yoursite.com/
I have done what Darren suggested. No use. 777 /public folder Ok. I receive notification to my email. Now I get this Server public folder path (/blog/)FAIL Ask the hosting provider the path of the read/write folder. This folder must have its permissions set as 777. I do not have a blog! Maybe I should skip the whole thing. Frustrating to say the least.
