What are the generated folders: Backup, Library, Preview, etc.

Under the pages generated by X5 (13) are several folders: BACKUP, PREVIEW, UPLOAD.
Some are as old as 4 years . . .
1) what are they for?
2) do I need to keep them or can they be removed?
Thanks
Gepostet am
Akram,
They contain the backup files of that project, also the files needed to create the preview and upload.
If you have the project elsewhere backup-ed (step5 export project) you can delete these files.
When you start working again on the project they will be recreated again.
Best regards,

Do not delete these folders, they are created when you create any project.
With luck you will never need backup, but in case of a corruption in the project it provides a means of recovery (most of the time). A backup is created every time you upload your site using the built in FTP, and also when you click the down arrow next to save and select backup now. If you do not make use of this backup now feature you should - OFTEN! (& if you occasionally go to step 5 export, export the project you are creating an even more reliable backup).
Preview is the folder used by the built in preview browser - so this is needed.
Upload holds the files generated when you upload using the built in FTP to upload your site to the web.
(beaten by Andre - yet again :-(
Hello Esahc, yes but we have different answers!
I stand by mine, you can delete them, they will be genereted again from x5 if you start the project.
Don't delete the library, this loses the pictures in the project. But that was not the question.
And to be safe an exported project in step 5 on a different medium then your pc is always advisible. in case the project breaks down (better then the backup in the folder)
But on some point i agree you delete the internal backup of x5, but if you need space and have the project and have a backup somewhere else as well. then why yet another backup.
But again, this was not the question.
Thanks, and have a nice w-end!

Thanks friends --- but some of these items go as far back as 2013 or so -- surely, not even v13 can read them.
Your thoughts on this please?
Thanks
I shared my thoughts.
What else do you expect? You got a good answer.
You can delete them.
Hi Akram,
as Andre and Esacht mentioned, the Preview and Upload folders are automatically generated by the software when you launch the preview and when you export the project. You can delete them, and they will be automatically regenerated when launching the preview and exporting the project again, this time with the most recent contents.
As to the Backup folder, you will find all the old backup files the program automatically generates. You can delete the older files, but I strongly reccomend you to keep at least the most recent one.
Please let me know if I can help you further. Kind regards.
