I have been using the credit card option for a year now however, all of a sudden when my customers select the "Buy Now" option
the website displays an error which says "Generic error"
This only happens on the live website and works correctly when testing. I have tried Firefox & Chrome browsers but the result is the same. I have also re-installed Website X5 (ver 16)
Can anyone assist with this problem
Many thanks,
Peter
Gepostet am
Hi Peter.
The reasons for this particular issue could be many, but it should be easily recognized.
In order to properly identify the reason for the issue I would need you to provide the URL to your website here, and I will perform a test purchase. At this point, I will be able to understand what seems to be the real issue with the checkout process.
Please provide your address here for me so that I might analyze the problem for you
Thank you

Hello again Stefano,
I forgot that the error only occures when pay by credit card is chosen
Kind regards,
Peter
Hi Peter.
I believe some kind of issue is being generated by incorrect permissions set on your hosting.
I will attach here for you a screenshot of the correct issue that gets generated, try and take this, and contact your hosting's support about it. They should be able to exactly understand what is going on and potentially fix it for you straight ahead.
After they get back to you, get back to me here and let me know the result
Keep me posted
Thank you

Hello again Stefano.
I asked my ISP to look into the issue and thay came back saying that the issue was related the the PHP version being incompatible. My PHP version was 5.5 but I upgraded to 7.0 but no improvement.
Do you have any further ideas?
Kind regards,
Peter

Further details from my ISP
Our apologies if you still have issues with the Checkout page of your website. I was able to check on your hosting and it shows the PHP version was already set to 7.0 but I still encountered the same error message. I have checked the Support page of Website X5 and based on their responses regarding the same error, it appears it has something to do with PHP. Can you confirm from Website X5 the PHP requirements in order for the tool to work properly?
Kind regards,
Peter
Hi Peter.
yes I can confirm that WebsiteX5 is fully compatible with PHP from version 5.6 to the newest 7.2.
Every server using these versions of PHP will be just perfect for hosting your WebsiteX5 generate site. If your website is using one of these versions and is still getting issues generated, it probably has something to do with their configuration, which they should be able to sort out.
If you wish to perform an additional test for this, try exporting your website to a different free hosting, just for testing. See if it works alright there.
If it does, it might help your hosting to know where you moved to so that they might check the configuration there
Keep me posted on this situation
Thank you

Hello again Stefano,
Again response from my ISP
I appreciate your time in getting back in touch and for sharing with us the response from the software supplier. From what I can see, there is no issue with the PHP Version and what needs to be checked is the requirements of this software; it may require certain PHP extensions or options which need to be configured manually in order for it to work. I would like to get a confirmation if the software supplier shared with you the complete requirements of their product to you so we can check it out.
This is very frustrating - you blame the ISP, the ISP blames you and I am left in the middle with a non functioning website.
I have been unable to find a free website in Australia to test your theory. Any thoughts
Kind regards,
Peter

Hello once more Stefano,
I have found & tried another hosting website but I still get the same errors.
www.pkimh.5gbfree.com
Please advise.
Kind regards,
Peter
Hi Peter.
I was able to examine your new test website and can see that the issue is actually very different, although it might appear as to be the same from what is presented.
In this case, the hosting is instead returning a different error which might indicate a deeper level of incompatibility with the code.
This error though should be much more easily tracked down. Ask this hosting's support to look up for this issue in the server's ERROR LOG, and report it here to me so that I might take a look at that
keep me posted as soon as they get back to you
Thank you
Stefano
