Google metatag not inserting on "Verification Metatag for Google Search Console"

I inserted the metatag in the "Verification Metatag for Google Search Console" in th eSEO sectionbut verification failed every time. I managed to get it verified by putting the meta tag in the custom code section on the thirde tag.
So essentially the "Verification Metatag for Google Search Console" doesn't appear to work. V17 - unles you place it in the custom code.

Since the tag line in SEO is not in a page content, it is only taken after Ctrl preview and uploaded to the server.

Hi Philip.
As reported by JUAG, I can confirm that due to an issue with the software, you will need to update the preview as indicated by him in order to get the code to show correctly from the field in Step 1.
The developers are currently looking into this as to be able to solve the situaiton promptly
