Today I installed v17 of Website X5 versioin 17. I cannot make it connect to my webspace provider (ONE.COM). I have spent severl hours with their help people and we cannot find anything that I am doing wrong. I think therefore that there may be something wrong with V17. I have successfully made connections and transfered files using FILEZILLA. I would therefore like to revert to an earlier release of the product while these issues are being resolved. How should I proceed? NB I have made a few changes to my project since installing v17.

my website is www.wantageprobus.org

error messages vary depending on whether you try to use plain ftp or encrypted protocols. Here are some examples

Unable to connect to Server. Generic error. (A supplied password or user name is incorrect)

Please check with your internet provider that you have the correct information .

If you still have the project of the previous version, you can continue working there on this stand.Opening the project from v17 in an older version is not possible.

If you close the error message in FTP, are there any red warnings behind individual fields? There must be the mistake.
Have you checked if encrypted FTP is needed?

I have tried both encrypted and unencrypted. I have had the internet provider (ONE.com) check my FTP credentials and they are fine. Also FTP works via FILEZILLA. What I need to know is how to go back the the earlier  version of the Website X5. I have a recent backup that I could import.

Look here in their profile under Download and License, so you can download older versions and install again in parallel!

It may not be X5 at fault here, Brian. I upgraded to v17 and have had no issues with uploading my sites since doing so, even with the latest version release. It sounds as if there is another program installed on your PC (or a firewall setting) that stops the upload. Does anyone else have issues?

This problem now seems to have mysteriously gone away. I cannot tell you what I did to make this happen, but I have been playing around with all sorts of things including repeatedly resetting my password on the One.com server. One thing that may have had some influence is that the server likes the destination folder to be left blank, but I already knew that. I did put put a / in that field which did not resolve the problem and then I took the slash out again which also did not solve the problem But after playing around with it for a long time it suddenly started working. One small strange thing is that I now get the attached error message, which to which I am replying "no".
