Adding a link to a displayed email address in a footer- HOw?  en

OK first off, Newbie alert. (How web pages have changed since I last did one)

I am new to X5 Evo, basically starting from scratch again.

I have created a template, on the footer of said template I have put an email address.

How do I make this live with say mailto: or something like.

Package seems logical on most things, but not on this, I have searched for mailto: in the pdf not found.

Please help a newbie.

Hi Kevin,

I don't know if I understood your problem correctly, do you want a link to address the email?if so, try this
<a href="mailto:***">Write an email</a>

if we want to insert a link to more than one email address we will only have to separate them with a comma:
<a href="mailto:***,***,***"> Write an email </a>

let me know wink

Thanks for the responses. Well it took a while. but

Right I’ve done it. But not a line of code touched my hands.....cool

From within the ‘Template content’

Select the text on the footer (in my case)

On the menu at the top of Template content select EDIT

On the options Heading tag has ‘None’

Below that is the line which has ‘Link’ next to it .

On the right of that box is a symbol of the world and a chain. Press it.

In the screen that follows is a list. Fifth one down is email.

Fill in the details required.

It works.....

Once again thanks for the suggestions, does the above make sense to you .

Can someone please test and comment about the above method.

Thanks Kevin

Kevin, it sounds like you have stumbled across the correct way.

You can add your email address (title object) and link it as an email address (you can also do the same with a simple text oject, highlight the text and apply the link)

After adding the email address, you can also add a tooltip if you wish

If you prefer you can add an image object (perhaps a pic of an envelope) and similarly provide a link and tooltip if you wish

You are right, there is seldom any need to write code, that is why I use WX5 :-)
