Gallery Code Type Changes, Adding Of A Bulk Page Editor, Shipping Changes, Export/import Project Options And More  en

Autor: N. Southward

1: Change the gallery from flash to javascript. This will not only make sites quicker and more search engine friendly, but it will give websiteX5 a boost in marketing boasting rights for being a program that constructs mobile phone friendly websites.

2: Have an option to apply or remove the dropshadow on the gallery thumbnails. This pisses me right off as it makes pages with custom frames looks unprofessional. There is no reason for that dropshadow! ***PLEASE******PLEASE******PLEASE*** At least make it optional!!

3: A shipping charge based on the number of items being shipped, rather than just amount or weight.

4: The ability to export/import full projects (perhaps exported to a zip file - including the original images) or at least the option to select the folder where the images for a project are kept. I upgraded from windows XP to windows 7. Because my images were saves in a folder on the XP desktop (C:\Documents and Settings\Computername\desktop\images) when I moved over to win7 the file structure had change (c:\user\computername\desktop\images) I had to manually reapply every single image, frame and custom button on a site containing more than 50 pages each containing at least 3-4 images all with frames (one page couldn't be changed then repasted as each page has unique text and images). I even tried creating a directory to match windows XP but windows 7 wouldn't allow the creation of "c:\documents and settings" as it states its already in use but cannot be accessed.

5: Bulk page editor- e.g. imagine an e-commerce site with 50 product pages. All the product pages use the same layout. The designer decides he wants to put his logo in the background of a cell or add a frame to the images. Currently he has to go on to each page individually and apply each change via the individual object options. Something like a bulk page editor would not only help in changing cell properties and product galleries, but also frame settings in the product lists, table column widths or even just adding a piece of custom html code to all or selected pages. Perhaps it might be possible to add a menu in advanced settings that shows a sitemap. You select which pages you would like to modify, then when you change one it changes all the selected. If the pages do not match in layout, i.e. in Page1 has nothing in the top right cell whereas Page2 has an image, then either only changes can be made to cells that are blank on both page, or a warning is displayed stating "Page2 has a image in cell A1 this change may remove the current cell object, do you want to continue?" (Cell 'A1' refers to map grid reference A=horizontal 1=vertical)

6: Menu type option "None" i.e. Ability to remove menu altogether so custom buttons can be used. (I am currently using custom code on each page to disable website x5 menu, however I also need to go in and change the coding of the site after it has been uploaded otherwise the menu reappears blocking out part of my company logo in the shopping cart pages when purchases are being made.

7: More customisable side block in blog - Being able to add personalised text, images and links without having to insert as html coding. Also add a Twitter block.

8: An option left side block in blog - This not only make the blog more symmetrical if required but gives the designer more freedom to customise the look and add more links or features.

9: Email form tick box single option - Currently you can only have multiple option tick box or single option dot. This is a problem if you want to have a tick box labeled join our mailing list. Currently you have to either put a tick box with yes and no (not only does it look stupid having a "No" option but it also means the user HAS to click on an option which sometimes puts people off), or you can use the single choice dot, but if this is accidentally selected or the user changes their mind it cannot be removed.

These are the things that I seem to come across most often. Especially when someone asks me for "just a simple change!" HA, yeah right, there is no such thing is a simple change. Though some of the things I have listed might help make life a little more simple.

Once again I praise your product. Great fun and easy to use. Good for people at a variety of skill levels especially novices and intermediates. Its quick reliable and not resource heavy so great for people who work on the move or who have low end system. Keep up the great work and I hope you consider some if not all of these for the next release.

Kind Regards,

Nathan Southward
