On the Project Analysis I have an alerts sayng "The object exceeds its working area", for the following

Image (viewpoint 2: 470px, -4453px)

Image (Smartphone: -6498px, -4453px)

I have looked at the template footer where thie error is supposed to be, cannot see any problem. Have not come across this issue before with such large numbers -4453px.

Would be grateful for any help on the matter.

Edgar, there is almost certainly one or many objects in your footer outside of the displayable area. Using step 2 template footer, check at desktop resolution and count the objects (text, pic, menu, etc), now go to mobile view and count the objects. Click on each one and you will see the handles surrounding each object. All 8 handles must be within the displayable area.

This frequently happens where the surrounding handles create a box way bigger than required to show the object (eg menu, photo, etc). In this case, resize the object by dragging handles.

Hi Esahc..

i have had a simular problem with the error :Object is outside its working area".

i used the Template "Mike Bailey Architect" and straight off picked up this error in the template footer.

you can download the template directly from https://market.websitex5.com/en/templates/3b68035f-f225-4167-a10e-915bac3dc5

it is the dividing lines in the footer which give this problem and I cant seem to fix the issue. I have tried making them smaller but it does not resolve the problem.

i do use this template for my web site and would like to resolve this problem, i have similar problems on other projects so I would like to solve this.

please let me know if you can help me with this problem in the template

regards

Cliff

Hi guys,

We saw a similar problem on the French forum.

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/de/post/219003

I don't know if you can translate this subject correctly into English? Not easy either for me to give you a full translation of this page ... embarassed

I think you should control the size and position of the objects involved ... See the screenshots of Robert.

Hope this will help you?

Happy Holidays,

J.P.

Edgar & Jiper, for what it is worth I once had this (unexplainable) issue caused by a menu.

Everything appeared correct in header and footer, but after many drinks I realised that the drop down menu was too wide for the smaller viewports. WX5 was taking this into account during analysis, but I was not. In my case I reduced the width and displayed to the left.

If this is of no value in solving the problem I apologise.

Cliff, I do not have Mike Bailey Architect, but even if I look at the live preview as desktop view and then slowly make the browser window narrower I momentarily see that either the header or footer exceeds the displayable area (a scroll bar appears at the bottom). Good luck, hopefully someone else here has that template and can guide you to the solution.

Hi Esahc ..

Thanks for your response as well as Jiper, i have looked at the French information as well as gone back to my headers, footers and sticky bar. When scaling images using the handles, the image does not really scale correctly and you need to scale it according to the size of the image when you edit it, if you dont and use the handles the scaling does not work correctly, never the less, it seems as if you edit it to the size required and then manouver according to the area available then it does start getting the "Object is outside its working area" solved.

I have solved my working area problems, ...using the size and position dialog box also helps if you need to make some minor size adjustments.

Thanks for your assistance and happy holidays to you

best Regards

Cliff

Good Evening Esahc..& Others

Thanks for responding, the issue I had was as follows

  • Image (viewpoint 2: 470px, -4453px)
  • Image (Smartphone: -6498px, -4453px)

The figures above were way of the scale I have ever encountered before. I have been using WX5 since version 9, so familiar with size and position criteria.

Esahc you right in pointing out that one of the objects was outside the working area, however I just could not see the object. It was not even there under hidden object management where you would expect to see it.

Some of the others who answered the thread mentioned issues with templates and possible scroll-to-top- button causing the issue.

So, with all the suggestions and a large pot of coffee I began by making a backup first. I eliminated the sticky bar, scroll-to-top- button, tried every setting within object management and size and position - Horizontal alignment / Vertical alignment & Distribute.

I then went to the template structure and selected footer and reset the height to 0. Thereafter went template content checked the footer and it was blank as expected having set the height to 0.

I then went back to template structure and selected footer and reset the height back to its original setting 300. Went back to template content checked the footer and hey presto the missing object reappeared in the grid.

I repeated the same process for the next viewpoint and once again missing object reappeared. Checked Project Analysis no more errors.

Hope the above helps anyone with the same issue.

Kind regards,

Edgar
