Increase page contents width size

In the template is it possible to increase the width beyond the default size 990? This is used on a created template. Want to fill out the page with a little bit wider with text, rather have to use a background image or color.

Would I have to use a already created template to be able to increase the page width? I would rather not, but please explain how I might be able to do this if possible.
Use header to set width in resolution and responsive design

Will that increase the overall page width? I wish to have more left to right space to be used. Looking at a already created template, the page width extends out to 1150. I extended the header, had done it already, it doesn't increase page width unless I'm missing something.

I'm using just X5, not the pro version.
Joe, please follow Andre's advise. His second screen capture shows what to edit. Step 2 Resolutions and Responsive design. Edit Desktop width (eg 1200).
With evo you can change the widths but you cannot add a new width.
