I have recently tried to add a sitemap to Google. I have done this loads of times using the website X5 generated sitemap.
Google for some unknown reason is telling me that it can read the sitemap but it has errors. I find this bizarre because I have no control over the sitemap's content. if anyone can shed some light on this I would be most grateful.

Try an external sitemap generator like xml-sitemaps.com and compare the files
Oh, and I want one of your pool covers!
Can you post a few lines of the sitemap file...
disregard I've downloaded your sitemap - will look at it tonight
quick look - seems fine.
Google isn't perfect - the analysis reports sometime have errors: i get all the time that pdf files on site are not mobile firendly - but nothing to do about it....
are you ranking? if you're ranking then google is seeing your pages ok
Hello Derek,
How have you listed this site in Google Search Console? The URL is important, both with regards to protocol (http or https) and prefix (www or non-www).
So check that you have added this site to Google Search Console exactly as follows:
https://telescopicpoolenclosures.com
As opposed to:
http://telescopicpoolenclosures.com
http://www.telescopicpoolenclosures.com
https://www.telescopicpoolenclosures.com
By the way, PHP is not correctly configured on your server (for WebSite X5 use), but that has nothing to do with your current query.
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your comments. Yes I have uploaded the correct URL. I am having to use my customer's server/host which is Go Daddy and he has an old Go Daddy hosting account which has an old version of PHP which is not helpful. Go Daddy will not upgrade PHP on this account and he will not upgrade to the latest Go Daddy hosting package.
I don't know if you have dealt with Go Daddy but it is not a good experience. I normally host sites on my Ionos server which I find dead easy to use.
Hope all is well.
Stay safe.

Derek

For Adrian,
Thanks for your help. What I fear is that Google is picking up webpages from the the old site which was not built by me and written in PHP. The old site's index.php file is no longer on the server. Google is displaying old php webpages in its search results.
I'll leave it a couple of days and then upload another sitemap.
Regards
Derek
Yea google is not instant - it will refresh to the new work eventually
