Reinstallation problem  en

My software advises to download and install the programm once again. After the download the installation fails because the deletefile cannot be replaced, error code 5. Pls tell me what to do next.I did download also in a different language, no help, same problem. Thank you. Enid

I got so fed up that I bought another copy of the software and now get a continuous request to fill in the key number, email and password. This is not very satisfactory and I hope to receive your advice today. Thank you.

Dear Incomedia,

What I have done now

First: I have Windows 7, 64 bit

Second: I finally could kill \Lokale Einstellungen\Anwendungsdaten\Incomedia 
%PROGRAM FILES%\WebSite X5 v9 - Evolution    

in the registry.

After reinstallation of the newly bought software I must activate with the new key. Done this I get the same request to activate and this continues (shell).

Would you please help me now as I otherwise don't know how to proceed with my websites. Thank you.

post 2339 - I cannot delete  -net 3.0 as it is being used by other programs. I have dowloaded 3.5 - and now? Please advise.

You can keep any framework on your computer as long as you have the 3.5. Now that you have it, please make sure you have installed it correctly then launch your WebSite X5 and install from zero.
Make sure you have at least IE7 on your computer.
Please let me know if the issue is solved.

Hello,

OK I did what you asked me to do. Question: I downloaded framework 3.5, what about the installation. I can't find anything that says "install", it installs itself, is that OK?I have IE7 on my comp.

Error code I get after re-installation is: generic error at installation, please install again. This msg repeats itself all the time

Have used cleanup .net and downloaded .net 35, BUT which files must I install? There are three packages with installations files in the unzipped main file.

You need to download and install the  "dotnetfx35.exe" (231Mb). Please make sure you are downloading the correct file.

I have downloaded this: chrome://fileicon/C:/Users/Enid Goyers/Downloads/dotnetfx35.exe which is 231 MB, is this the correct one?

After its installation I still get the error msg "generic error, pls reinstall".....

Hi again,

Did some digging and found that despsite the clean up tool versions 3.0 and 35 (13 MB) remain and cannot be wiped or erased due to being used in other programs.

I have installed the dotnetfx35.exe after cleaning up, it doesn't seem to work. Do you probably have another link for the exe file at Microsoft? The one you gave is in Italian, not very helpful for me. Would appreciate your help here also.

Hi

Tks for the new link, BUT....during installation I am asked to use Windows functins "turn on/shut down" of the control panel. Where do I find this there? I am sorry for this question but this goes beyond my mediocre knowledge.

By the way the English version is less than 231 MB ??

It's ok Enid, please don't apologyze!

You need to go into your control panel - search for the ''programs and features'' option - then click on the ''turn window features on and off'' (in the top right corner).
Another window will open.
Here you need to enable the Framework by clicking on the square next to it. Then select ok and proceed.

Yes, the english version is smaller, that is correct! Wink

Hi,

God am I stupid! Could you explain how I can erase 3.0 framework? It is being used by other programs and as such cannot be removed. I also think as long as3.0 is running  3.5 is something like a luxury item and not used really. I am saying this because WebsiteX5 Ev will still not start up, it keeps giving me the error msg "generic error a.s.o".

Dear Enid,

first of all I apologyze for making you wait. Unfortunately I do not know how to help you. The problem you are having is related to your PC, you have something wrong with Windows that does not give you the chance to install the correct framework for the program to work.

Could you please kindly try to install the program on another computer? Could this be possible?
If you can not fix your Windows and install your framework correctly, I can not help you...
Please keep me informed and let me know how you wish to proceed.

I feared to get this kind of a reply from you. Do you understand German? I would like to give you a screen shot of the msg I get re the .net 3.5  issue.

Since I have the same win7 program on my other computer, could I be confronted with a perpetual problem then?

My current computer, this one here, is a Dell I7, Windows 7 installed by Dell. I am trying to delete .net 2.5 through programs and functions and or "erase" by Trend Micro, and also the link you have given earlier. All three don't work.

Funny part of all is that I bought another copy of WebsiteX5 recently which could not be installed on this Dell conputer. Does this info help?

I have used another computer with .net framework 3.0 and 3.5 and YES I can start up the program now, BUT.......I cannot get to my projects. The "so called" copies I made are empty files or something with a zip at the end. Can you help me out of this?

Hi Samantha,

Yes, the file is .iwzip. I will do as you ask, however, I think the whole hang up is because of my Dell computer. There is something on it that I didn't have on my  Samsung or my mobile hard disks. The Samsung worked OK, the mobile hard disks to which I have copied the software are also OK. But these only work with an Acer I still have, but not with the Dell.

Maybe you have an answer to this?

The Dell com uses Trend Micro antivirus, Samsung did not, Acer does not.....???

The antivirus could interfere with the program actually. You can if you wish, try to  deactivate the antivirus while importing your project.

No, Samantha it was all wishful thinking, it did NOT work! Maybe you and I come to another solution some time. I will work with my Acer for the Websites but I would really appreciate to get a solution for this problem on the Dell computer. Would it help if you have details about this comp.?

Hello Enid,

The problem is not your computer but rather some sort of issue with Windows 7.  I am having the same issue.  Fortunately I know my X5 evo 9 software will work with Windows Vista.  Here's my suggestion; install a trail version of Windows Vista then install Website X5.  Then install your copy of Windows 7 but choose the option to keep the file system.  I'm going to test this.  No one should have this kind of grief installing a program.

Installation problem- I installed Windows Visa on a new hard drive and then I installed Website X5 evo 9. The program appeared to install correctly but then it hung up on the activation. I switched back to my original hard drive with Win Vista as everything is working there. No solution to the problem at this point.
