Good day to you all,

I am having a heck of a time working with the email form.

No matter what selections I choose from the send form for the sending authority as I always get the same thing which results in a divergence between the email address and the SMTP server being used.

To be clear, the emails are from *** and the smtp server being used is not outlook.com.

I have found a refence to *** in the imEmailForm.php file howeer changing manually causes the process to crash.

Where in X5 Pro 2012.5.4 can I access this setting? ( I have looked everywhere! ).

Thank you everyone, keep well and,

Cheers, JK

JK are you sending email from your local domain (eg name(at)yourdomain.com)?

It is possible to send from a different domain, but the setup is difficult (for me it is too hard) and would probably require assistance from your host and email provider. Websites no longer allow using an SMTP server other than their own by default.

Hey, thank you for your feedback.

I just figured out a way to do this.

There is one caveat though in that the domain of the sender may not be the same as the website being supported unless you can gain access to the mail server that supports the domain.

In this case I am using my own mail server and can therefore do what I want.

This is not perfect but the only way because a lot of mail systems bounce emails that discover a deviation between the sender's email domain and the sending SMTP banner.

In other words if you want to send as *** and use an SMTP server that is not somedomain.com even though the authentication might work from the SMTP server the recepient mail server will probably bounce the email as spam.

I hope this helps anyone who may be having to work through this.

Cheers, JK
