I'm trying to upload my website to the internet and it will not connect, just get a dialog box saying "Checking website URL address" all the FTP settings have been entered correctly but it will not connect. Any ideas?

Maybe post a screenshot so helpers can find the error.

Hello Bob,
I am sorry about the issue.
Is this the first attempt to export this website, or were you previously able to export it and have encountered this only now?
Thank you.

This message only says that the program is in the process of establishing a connection. This could take some time, so wait and see if it continues or if an error message appears.

In answer to Eric C, I have used this version of X5 for some years now without problems, I changed my hosting from Ionos to Freeola this morning and now can't get it to upload files, I've also recently changed my ISP to SKY so this might also be part of the problem, not sure.

The FTP parameters are probably entered incorrectly. I'm not a member of Freeola myself, but here's information from Freeola, see

Basic Guide to FTP and Web Space

...

...

Regardless of which program you use for FTP, you will need some important settings, these are outlined briefly below but all the information needed can be found by selecting My Websites from the left-hand menu within your MyFreeola account.

FTP Server Address

The FTP Server address will vary in format depending of the type of hosting service you have with Freeola. For legacy servers, this will be in the format of freeolawebX.freeola.net, VIP Hosting subscribers would be in the format of vipX.freeola.net and SSD Hosting subscribers would use ftp.yourdomain.com (where yourdomain.com is replaced by your website address).

This information can be confirmed in the My Websites section of MyFreeola.

FTP Server User ID

This will begin with either sr, vip or cp depending on the service you are subscribed to. Again, this information can be confirmed in the My Websites section of MyFreeola.

FTP Server Password

This is the password connected to your FTP username and should be confirmed at the same time as the above information.

Hello Bob,
so this only occurred since the switch to Freeola, is that correct?
Have you tried contacting their support to inquire about this?
