I have a very basic website (www.eclecticbliss.co.uk) I want to place a facebook and possibly twitter 'like' button on the template page. For the facebook one I have generated (from facebook) 2 sets of html code to put into the page. One just says you can paste it anywhere, the other says it's the code for the plugin. I have tried pasting the generic code anywhere on the page, then the plugin one on top of the facebook like graphic I imported. Is this correct? It doesn't seem to work in the test function? Is there an easy idiots guide as I don't understand html yet?! Would this then work for twitter? Thanks!

I should "UPDATE" your X5 V8.... you have 8.0.9 the latest being 8.0.16??
For HTML you have to use the HTML Box... Just to clear that up!
If you have no idea of HTML I suggest inserting a Facebook/Twitter icon and linking to your page for now...
See below as my example:

X5 V9 actually uses a widget within the program to do this for you!!
.
Enjoy!!

Cheeky Man,
Thanks for the advice! I'm happy how to get the facebook icon and then link to the correct page on facebook, it's the automatic 'like' part which I want to get to work!
Do I really have to upgrade to V9 to use the widget in the program to do this? Can I not use a facebook icon on my website with the facebook provided html embedded in the icon?
Does this make sense?!

Please see message above. I have used html code from facebook for the like button, but nothing shows up when I use the 'test' function. Do I have to uploan it to the internet for it to work and show the icon etc properly?

Please can you follow up my query? Thanks.
Hello Mike,
if you make use of html custom code that needs to connect to external sites this won't work inside the internal browser used when you "test" your site.
You have supposed right, you need to export your site online to get it works.
Hope this helps

Michele,
I have now uploaded the site to the internet and the html custom code that was supplied by facebook doesn't work? i.e. I've got the code in on the footer of the homepage but no icon appears when I've uploaded it to the internet - help?!
Hello Mike,
unfortunately I cannot help very much with third-party custom code, if you correctly pasted the code inside the Html & Widgets object it should work, make sure you didn't paste anything wrong
