I still use Version 9 and always encounter that picture objects are getting lost. Once I put picture objects onto a page and start editing metadata of other pictures in that page it happens that the link to local picture files of other picture objects is notified as image generation error in the preview presentation. When opening the picture objects however the picture is visible. This is quite cumbersome so I doubt wether Version 10 is good idea. Too many problems . Who has a solution to this issue ??

Hello Bernhard,
From which location are you adding the images?
In Version 10 it has been introduced the internal library system where the images are stored in the project to avoid that images used, moved from their original location, could cause the image generaton error issue.
Many thanks!

Caro Claudio,
the location of pictures for a specific page is alle the same . Other pages use other file locations. I have tried various approaches but without success:
- move file location to the root directory and rebuild all picture objects
- delete UPLOAD and PREVIEW directory incl corresponding files for that specific project
- press and hold CTRL-Key when starting preview
What puzzles me is that the picture/s is/are visible in the page edit mode in some cases when I click onto the picture object .Also when I double click to open the object parameter view I see the picture.
But nothing turns up in the Browser Preview. ( always image generation error ) .
It also happend that I changed some pictures on another page and then on a different page all picture objects came up with image generation error.
I spend a lot of time already in trying to find out what the cause could be ( picture size ? ) .
Is this tool really recommendable for professional application ?
Any idea to overcome this mess ? Mi dispiace

Hello Bernhard,
Can you please give me more informations about the images you use? Are they in jpg? How big are they?
If the images are still present in the computer and you added them from the root directory then they should be visible and the image generation error should not happen. Please provide me more informations to try to duplicate the issue.
Many thanks!

Claudio,
my project is about a family website with some pages containing scanned pictures .
There a 12 pictures in a single column with 12 rows. Each cell contains one of the pictures .
The picture site ranges from 1MB to 5 MB. Access to these pages is protected ( password ) .
I made some ( 5 ) screenshots : Please refer to :

Hello Bernhard,
Can you please try to resize the images because it could be that the resizing function that WebSite X5 is probably stopping if there are a lot of big images. The resizing whould work with these images but to exclude it this test would be helpful. Use a smaller format and then check if the same happens again.
Please keep me updated.

Claudio,
OK, I made a resize of all the pictures with Irfanview to 50 % of horizontal and vertical size which made the files to be about 500 . Now it works and there is no image generation error any more. However I have to sacrifice flexibility and this constraint requires additionl effort as my camera is set to produce 12 MegaPix at corresponding file size.
Anyhow we can close this problem report.
Also not knowing where the real size limitation for WebSite X5 will be ( maybe 1 MB ? I will not test that )
Best regards
Bernhard

Claudio,
just discovered that there quite a few new image generation errors on other pages which have been produced with resized pictures. It seems that it is a real at-random problem : Once you have managed to get one page properly filled with pictures then other pictures on different pages have that error. Quite annoying .

Hello Bernhard,
If the images are still present in the original location then the image error issue should not happen. Please check if they are still present. If they are still inthe folder then try to uninstall the program and then delete the WebSite X5 Folder in program files and install the program again to check if so these are correctly generated.
Please keep me updated.
