Is there a way to create a members site kind of like facebook but only for sports and their states?

Timothy, Yes there are 2 ways I think this can be done but it will be a lot of work maintaining it unless you issue the same password to each sports section or you could use the same password for everyone.

The way I would construct a members site with one password for all members is to use the Home Page as a landing and registration page. Create an e-mail form to collect the peoples names, sport of interest, e-mail addresses, etc. for registration. Put the log-in username and password in a response e-mail for immediate access.

Create a new page under the existing menu folder this needs to be a locked page in the site menu so people cannot access further without their details being provided first. Create the locked page access point with your design around it but make sure that the log-in input fields are the real focal point. Make sure you point the landing page after input of username and password to the first page of the sports sections.

Add as many pages as needed so you have room to input your data. Make sure that all of the pages, (all except the first page,) are hidden in the menu so people cannot see them to access them directly, do not lock them.

Create the sections on individual pages ensuring there are text links to the next page, back page, pages in each section and the starting page of all sections if you want people to be able to access all sections.

Construction with multiple passwords for each section giving access to each individual sport would mean constructing folders for each section which in the header menu should point to the log-in page for each sport following the guide above for each section. Each section would then have it's own e-mail form, it's own log-in page and as many pages as you wish to give each section. You could even have a guestbook in each section for comments or input from members.

If you want everyone to have their own log-in details then this is where the work would be involved. You would need to log names and create passwords in the Locked pages access section and issue them to each individual person. You would need to inform them in the response e-mail that they will be notified within X amount of days with their access details as I don't think it's possible for the inbuilt responder to differenciate between words on incoming mails so you need the delay to issue a password for that particular sport section.

I hope this is of some help, I have only been using Incomedia for about 6 months but have tried many different types of website and learned a little about what the X5 range is capable of doing.
