WebSite X5 Evolution 10 HTML and Tables  en

I have been using the free WebSite X5 Smart successfully for many years and operate a number of websites using it happily. Now I need to change computers and so I have purchased WebSite X5 Evolution 10. The transfer is cumbersome and made even worse by the HTML icon not accepting advanced HTML coding. One needs to use the "table" icon to make tables and this does not have the flexibility of allowing cell padding etc. The free version was much easier to use - really getting quite frustrated with WebSite X5 Evolution 10. Tahe a look at http://bournemouthprobustwo.com this was created using the free WebSite X5 smart. Really having a difficult job in recreating it in the purchased WebSite X5 Evolution 10.

I think the JJs answer has been translated to English from another language - not very well and so is difficult to follow.

I still do not understand why the HTML icon does not accept all regular HTML and why the table icon does not allow for the full range of table facilities.

I code everything in HTML using CSS where needed andhave not found anything that it does not accept, even including pages coded in HTML that date from 2001. I converted mt site from another obsolete program (noy an older version of X5) and got 100% acceptance of my codeso sorry not really able to help.  Andrew Smith

Hello Alan,

What HTML code are you adding in the table object and it is not accepted?

Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,

Many thanks for your reply.

A good example is the table at http://bournemouthprobustwo.com

This was prepared using the old WebSite5 Smart program. The new Evloution 10 will not accept that code in particular the "cellpadding" and "cellspacing" as in the line

table border="1" bordercolor="#1116b5" style="background-color:#ddfdfd" width="600" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="3">

Hello Alan,

cellpadding and cellspacing are no longer supported in HTML5 pages. Version 5 generates HTML5 pages and this is not supporting these 2 attributes.

You will need to use css code instead of cellpadding and cellspacing to get the same result since.

Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,

Many thanks, looks like I am going to have to learn all about HTML 5.... too old now, to learn new tricks.

Alan
