According to the help section on blogs (http://help.websitex5.com/en/blog.htm), a blog automatically gets a /blog url assigned, so www.mydomain.com/blog
How can I change/set the url to blog.mydomain.com?

This cannot be done within WebSite X5 - the location of the blog is fixed by the software.
You could manually create a subdomain on your server (ask your web host for further details) and then forward the blog to the URL of your choice using what is known as a '301 redirect' (again your web host can advise).
