A question about menu construction
Autor: Nigel W.Hi there...
I am wanting to move away from the slightly old-fashioned template styles that I am using just now and work towards creating a website that has the modern look of the following:
I may well ask a few questions along the way and my first question is in regard to the Menu structure of the above site.
Is it possible to have an horizontal menu where the sub-levels and folders are only displayed on the page reached by clicking on an item in the main horizontal menu.
You will see this effect in the above website,
I think this structure is brilliant and extremely tidy.
It draws the visitor to a main topic and, instead of having to navigate lots of sub-pages, one click takes them to the main page for that level, where there is a nice LHS vertical menu with all the sub-topics.
There seems to be no way of creating this with WebsiteX5 unless one creates the LHS menu from scratch.
Best wishes,
Nigel
Hello Nigel,
Yes, I agree that effect is neat and tidy, and yes you can do that in WebSite X5.
Note that the Page Menu will only show up on your finished web page if you have more than one page to display in any particular 'Level'
I've attached a screenshot showing the end result on a new project.
Hope this helps,
Paul
And here's another quick screenshot showing the menu structure in the sitemap.

Paul...
Thank you so much for your help here.
I am fairly intuitive but I find I have a level beyond which I find it difficult to peer into the depths of possibility.
I will play with this concept on a TEST project and come back to you.
Many, many thanks!

Actually, Paul, I've just realized that I've done most of those steps.
HOWEVER, I can't go for invisibility with the main menu pages as currently I have a lot going on behind the "dropdown"
ALSO...I have to keep as much as possible above THE FOLD, especially in terms of ads

I think that there are certain elements that the programmers might develop in order that we can create sites that are not as static as the limitations imposed by the WebsiteX5 templates.

ADDENDUM
Possibly have to create a text or table menu in the first column of each page and have my main menu items linked to the first of each set of pages thereafter...but that is really clumsy.
