Dear Sirs,
After the Google announced that it will be expanding its use of “mobile-friendliness” as a ranking signal beginning on April 21, i ve got so many error messages that they need fixes.
1. Leverage browser caching for a)images b)css c)javascript
2. Use legible font sizes
3. Configure the viewport
4. Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
My web site is www.irishellas.com
As the problems seems very serius for the google ranking, i would like your help, of an easy way to solving them.
Regards
Telis
P.S. For sure, i dont want to create another (mobile) web site

I'm also getting the error you are speaking about. I have over 10 sites with this software but all having problems with google.
Hello Aristotelis B,
The best option is to create a mobile version of the project by duplicating it and then in the project you use a mobile template or any template with a max width of 640px and you use a bigger font size and less objects on the same row.
In this way your website will pass the test.
Many thanks!
Hi Claudio,
I have tried that, but it has exactly the same issues as the desktop site, if not worse. I took it off immediately.

Hello Vedat,
Did you create a smaller mobile template for the whole website or did you made a copy of the project where you added a mobile template where you used generally a bigger font size and a smaller template?
From the errors it appears you need to use a bigger font size on the project with the mobile template.
Many thanks!
Hi Claudio,
I have exported the project first and imported, renamed it as mobile, selected one of the mobile templets. Because X5 mobile templets support only horizontal buttons, I got rid of a lot of the individual product pages to reduce the amount of buttons, which was ok.
I also got rid of some of the elements in header and footer, which was ok too.
No matter what size font I use Google gives the same errors, because whatever size the fonts are they render smaller no matter what. Google counts this as an error even with the mobile template. In a way bigger fonts I use bigger the error is. For example: renders only 4 pixels tall (13 CSS pixels) render only 7 pixels tall (21 CSS pixels) etc.

Hello Vedat,
Try please to export the project with the mobile template again online as example on www.gurtan.com/mobile/
Try to have only one object on every row so the content will be rendered at the fullsize and the font will be readable also on mobile devices.
Once done please inform me so I can test it.
Many thanks!
Hi Claudio,
It is uploaded to https://www.gurtan.com/mobile
I will keep it there for you to see, as soon as you se it I would like to take it off for possible duplicate content penalty withouth mobile redirect.

Hello Vedat,
Thank you for the link. Try to change the font size in all text objects at least to 14 and then it will get a better result. In the menu options add more space between the menu buttons and once done export it again online and make again the test.
Many thanks!
Hi Claudio,
Ok, done it. There is actually an improvement and rendering issue no longer shows up.
Menu I have done it, but since I cannot place space vertically it is giving me the same issue.
There are still javascript above the content ussue.
Here is the Google requirements, if wiewport is supported in X5 it would be a lot easier and less complicated.

Hi Claudio,
An update on the subject; I was able to change the menus to vertical with the current mobile template. So tap objects too close to eachother is also fixed.

Hello Gurtan,
I tested the page again and I saw it passed the test completely.
Many thanks!
Hi,
I've been trying to follow the procedure to create a mobile version of one of my websites www.thewellnesfoundation.org (the easiest one first as a test). It's just a 1 page site with no navigation.
I've created a mobile version of the website and made the file name with www.thewellnessfoundation.org/mobile/ but how do I make sure the mobile browser redirects to the mobile site and not to the main site?
Thanks
Nigel

Hello Nigel,
there are 2 options which you can use: or you use the welcome page in step 4 where you add the link to the desktop site and mobile site so the visitor can choose which one to open or you add a custom HTML code which automatically redirects the visitor according to the used device.
This code can be added in step 1 in the expert tab.
Many thanks!
Hi Claudio, I have two questions:
1 Where in step 1 the code can be added (maybe in step 2 "Map creation")
2 Will the code written down be ok?
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- if (screen.width <= 800) { [removed] = "http://m.domain.com"; } //--> </script>
Best regards
Piotr
Hello Piotr,
You can add the code in Step 4 - Statistic, SEO and Code in the Expert Tab so it will be automatically added to every page. In step 2 you will need to add it manaully to every page.
About the code unfortunately I cannot help since it does not depends on the program.
Many thanks!
Piotr,
No thats not the code to go for.
I am creating a step by step tutorial te create a mobile friendly site, i hope to help you there.
In the meantime, use the code from this site:
http://www.soundfeelings.com/free/best-mobile-redirect-javascript/
I am confused this script worked for steamagic.org but is not working for 1chicagocarpetcleaner.com I used the steamagic as a test did that exact same thing for other site but is not working??
Steve,
I don't see the code on the carpetcleaner side, did you set it in step 4, ceo/statistics -> expert TAB, use pulldown menu, select after opening the head tag. set code there, press ok, then reupload.
don't forget to refresh wenn revisiting for testing, also with your mobile refresh first.
I found if you create the site from scratch as a mobile it passes the google test just fine....
Here is another one i did!
