There are too many gaps in the help files for implementing RSS in website x5

i.e. what do i do with the 'linked page' option at the bottom of the edit box?

It says I will be warned RSS feeds dont work until uploaded, when i test the website, i do not get this warning

Hello Alan,

Hopefully the discussion in this thread will be of some use to you:

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/post/77218

Please note in particular Claudio's comment:

"This happens because on the browser you have no plugin which can render RSS feeds. As example if you open it with Firefox, where this functionality is present then it would appear as a feed.

If you would have any program installed which is used to open RSS feeds then it would open this program and then render the feed in it."

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul

I wonder if I am expecting Website x5 to do something it cannot?

I have a feed of cycling events. I thought I could port these articles into a page on my website, or at least have a link to the feed my users could click on to view the articles

Yes, you can do that...  but the browser which your end user is using must be set up to correctly identify an RSS feed and display it properly, hence my emphasis on Claudio's comment.

If you read through the thread I linked to then you might be able to see what I mean.  Duncan initially had similar confusion over RSS but in the end everything was working as it should.

Can you post a link to the site in question?  Highlighting the RSS feed?

Thanks,

Paul

I will try and illustrate further what I mean, Alan.

Visit this link in Google Chrome:

http://www.feedforall.com/sample-feeds.htm

Click on one of the RSS feeds...  you will get the XML file displayed as text (unless you have installed a plugin in Google Chrome to render RSS feeds).

Now visit the same URL in Firefox and click on one of the RSS feeds...  you will see that the feed displays correctly, because Firefox is set up to display RSS feeds by default.

Hope this helps...

The feed is working fine, Alan...  please see the screenshot attached of how it displays in my Firefox browser...
