Changing Fonts...  en

I have designed a website and much to my annoyance when I look at it online on antother laptop / PC / Tablet the font has changed from a very nice Century Gothic to a grubby, bland Times New Roman. Is it something I can do? Or is it the other device's settings? Should I add a note on the welcome page saying - "Best viewed with blah blah blah?"

Hello Adam,

Century Gothic is not a 'web-safe' font...  i.e. it is not a font which will be present in the vast majority of end users' operating systems.  This is why your browser is substituting a font such as Times New Roman.  This is not a defect within your version 9 of WebSite X5.

Good web design used to insist that you limit yourself to a narrow range of fonts which were widely available and in mainstream use.

The situation has changed recently with the introduction of 'web fonts' and 'Google fonts', etc.

The current version of WebSite X5 includes support for the use of these new font types, which will ensure that the end user views your web site exactly as you intend:

As an existing WebSite X5 user you may be entitled to upgrade at a reduced price:

If you do not wish to upgrade at this moment in time then you would be best advised to stick to the 'safe fonts' specified here:

Kind regards,

Paul
