Can I have a mobile site that is totally different than desktop? I mean a totally different layout and content almost custom mobile website.

Create two different projects for Desktop and Mobile program a diversion to screen width or manual linking of Desktop to Mobile (possibly with intro page. Where you use a subdirectory for the second project on the server. Mobile should probably be in root directory are, since about 95% of accesses are made mostly from Mobile.

The easiest way to have 2 totally separate websites for mobile and desktop is with the pro version.
