Restore Backup File for Evolution 12Autor: Charlene G.
Yesterday my projects were no longer are listed in the start menu for Evolution 12. I searched my computer and finally found some very old backups from a year ago. I was able to import one of them. Obviously I've made many changes in the past year; but for some reason unable to find those files. After reading through this forum, I tried a few things, but still cannot get correct functionality. For example, I found an old folder with all my updates, and took an "uploaded" file out of a backup file (like this instruction from the form: Inside the folder Backup you need to select one of the present files which you want to restore (usually a recent file is chosen). The files name will be similar to this "uploaded_20130624115544.iwprj" (20130624115544 stands for year-month-day-minute-seconds). Rename the selected file into "project.iwprj". Last but not least, copy the renamed file "project.iwprj".Inside the previous folder. In this way it will substitute the old one. Now it is possible to select the project again and to open it.)
Anyway - so I copied the most recent "uploaded" file that I could find, changed the title to project.iwprj and put it in the old project that I imported (from one year ago). The directory looks good and the text all seems to show, however, none of the photos show up.
Normaly the other files / pictures should be there as well. Strange that they are not. Did you not find any other iwprj files?
Or try to search for iwzip file is even better and easyer to import (you get it if you have made a copy of the project in step5.)
I think I got the v8 project I converted last year as well, but that is probably the same you have found.
But if the rest of the files are missing then mixing up the backup file won't help. The iwprj file needs the other files that are in the other folders as well.
Hi Andre, nice to hear from you. It's very strange, because all my V12 iwzip files are gone. All I could find are iwzip for version 8! Which I did import. But wow, that's recreating so much. Then I found a couple of what looked to be maybe backup files because the list of "uploaded" files with dates attached were in there.. I attached a photo of it on my last post. There were other folders in there, but nothing I could make sense of. I replaces the most recent "upload" file by following the instructions I quoted, above, and it opened. It has the full directory, but I have an error box wherever I had photos inserted. Tomorrow I can send you a screen shot of the error message. Maybe there's another file I need to copy?
try to create an zip archive with the folder "Current Hidden Garden Art Gallery-v12"
Upload this folder and send me the file so i can analyze it.
