I have Evolution X5 version 16 and I have had every version since the first one I purchased from Fredorico and his brother from their small stand at the Earls Court IT show. I have made many websites for others and myself so I am happy with the software and I do not want to change.
I have a problem with SEO however. Most of my websites have been for a captive audience where SEO is not an issue ; student information sites etc. Now I have www.focalview.co.uk which started out as a niche site but is growing and gaining members around the world. We want to provide expressive arts opportunities and so we need for people to find us easily.
A constructive critic has recently looked at our site and has said that it is not a Wordpress site. He said that unless we used Wordpress we might as well forget making any site at all because people will never find us. Ihave tried Wordpress in the past and found it difficult and I decided not too bother learning a whole new way of doing things when I was already committed to WX5.
My question is this..
Can I achieve all that Wordpress apparently can when it comes to web searches and being up the top of the tree as it were with WX5? I am sure the answer is yes but I want know what to do to beat Wordpress and prove I do not need to start all over again.
I know that there is an SEO section but I am still not sure where to go with it.
Advice and suggestions much appreciated.

Adrian - the answer is going to depend on how you ask the question and of whom. Surprisingly (?) people who teach, support or sell Wordpress expertise seem convinced Wordpress is best. I found it difficult to find answers from people without vested interests.
I did a search or 2 and it appears Wordpress is no better (or worse) than WX5, this article (from google search "does wordpress seo rank better") was pretty honest and some of the advise works for us too https://searchengineland.com/10-wordpress-seo-questions-took-10-years-answer-214050
I look forward to seeing a more knowledgeable answer than mine (although if it favours Wordpress I will almost certainly ignore it because previous experiences with Wordpress have been far too painful and I found general maintenance way too complex and stressful).

It sounds great that you love Website X5 like me.
Look, Search Engine Optimization is not in our control. Nobody in the world can promise you that he/she will bring your site at the top of Google Search Pages.
For example if you search for best web designer in UK, you will find lot of websites. Many of them promises to keep their customers' website on the front page. But if they can do this then why their website is below the top or in the 2nd page?
It's very difficult to understand the algorithm of Google or Yahoo or Bing. We the web designers can just try to make it on first page but the ultimate controller is Google or Yahoo or Bing.
I myself ranked my website in the top of Google Search. If you want to rank your websites in the front page of Google then you can follow the following steps by which I have done it. If you will found it useful then great otherwise you can try other ways.
1) Home Page - You have to remeber one thing, you have to build and focus on your home page more than other pages because all your website ranking will be based on Home page. So please design your homepage more beautiful and attractive.
2) Page Title - If you see the search engines then you will see that for 90% websites, there are only home page web address. So you have to be very careful. Your home page title should be content top 3 or 4 keywords including your website name. Suppose you are creating a website for Great World Restaurant which is situated in UK. Then your Page Title should be like - a) Great World Restaurant - Best place in UK for Delicious Food or b) Best Restaurant in UK - Great World Restaurant
3) Page Content - Try to write your page summary within 160 characters to rank it on Google
4) Website KeyWords - To rank your website on Google you have to first decide in which category you are going to publish your website. Then enter maximum 10 keywords for your website page. Let you are creating Great World Restaurant's website then it keywords should be like Restaurants in UK, Top Restaurants in UK, Best Restaurants in UK etc.
5) SSL Certificate - You can enable SSL Certificate for your website because website with https rank higher than normal http website. So it's your choice.
It may take 2-3 weeks to rank your website in top of the front page but don;t give up. Always try to update your website and don't forget to submit your sitemap on Google everytime.
People have their own choice. Me, you and maximum users found Website X5 more useful than Wordpress though X5 has some limitations.
Website X5 can be used by all but you have much experience and knowledge to use Wordpress.

I think in the past I have not concenttrated enough and in any case my sites were for a limited and local audience so it wasn't really an issue.
