There are quite a few posts about cookies in this form. I would like to know, for the cookies created by the program, do they have a preset expiration period? Or do they last pretty much forever on a person's machine? I know when a browsers cache is emptied, the cookies can be triggered to be removed. But in the real world, less than half of computer or device users know what that is. And of the half that does, how often do we really clean our cache? Pretty much when we think their might be a problem, or when the browser acts up.
So, do these cookies come with a preset expiration period?

John,
Not x5 but your browser determens when they expire.
Check the properties/settings in your browser.
Every user / browser can determen this for themself.
for instance in firefox, what I use:
It's in Dutch but it says you to select whether cookies expire and when.....

Okay thanks. Not something I have ever set. I just clear them when I think there is a need to. Much of the time, this could be less than once a year. Usually only think about it when IE acts up, which is seldom nowadays. Earlier versions of IE had more problems. And I know Microsoft is planning on abandoning IE eventually. I will switch to Firefox when that happens because Edge and Chrome are not my favorite things.
They all have settings for cookies, it is not up to x5 to decide how long they are active.
And yes i am also not a fan of Edge or google/chrome. i have been using firefox for many years now and always happy with it and very few problems.
But for testing i also check other browsers from time to time.
Anyway, you got your answer.
Best regards,
