Hi, im looking for a solution to allow one of my clients to update their website by themselves.
It will be an ecommerce site, so adding/changing stock etc.
What would be the best way to do this apart from purchasing Website Pro themselves ? is there a way?
Or would they need to purchase a full version?
TIA

Hello Andy,
In order to achieve what you describe your client would require a copy of the WebSite X5 software.
Kind regards,

Can they get away with the Evo version?
Unfortunately not as the vast majority of the ecommerce functionality is in the Pro edition.
There is no downwards compatibility from Pro to Evo, as there is no support in the Evo edition for the more advanced features in Pro.
So if you built a site for your client using the Pro edition, then your client would require the Pro edition to be able to work with that site going forwards.
Hello Andy
Be aware that you will have a huge problem if youn intend to still maintain the site for the client.
Every time you have to make a change to the site you have to ask the client to produce a iwzip file he then uploads and send a link for you to download. You will then have to make the changes and then produce a new iwzip you upload and send then send a link to your client to download.
As long as it is only the client that has to do changes to products ( new products, prices and so ) then it is only needed that the client make the changes and make an upload.
And you must hope your client is knowing what he/she is doing - if something is made wrong then the project could be corrupted.
X5 is ( still ) not suitable if you want to make an ecommerce solution for a client. There is a lot of posts here on the forum, just about this issue.
