Images search...  en

What is the optimal method to make a webpage which will contain images (thumbnails only) + image names (optional) and could be searchable by WSX5 (preferably by the filename)?

This project is for my company, where we use a lot of photographs for a certain client - and we would like to give the possibility to our clients for a quick preview of the whole photo-session material.

I want to set this on my company's web - and not by using some free online image-viewing service...

I thank you very much in advance for your tips!

Hello. The easiest way to add a lot of photos using a free or paid gallery object. In the gallery object, you can specify a name or description for each image. But a site search will not be able to search for specific images.Especially by file name.

@ Aleksej

Thank you very much!

Would the SEARCH work if I put images in the IMAGE object? (1 image in 1 image object)

The search will show pages that contain photos with captions. But if there are many photographs on one page, then you will have to look for the desired photo on the page manually.

Hello Sinisa

I performed some tests in order to provide information on this as precise as possible.

The images can be searched with the default search functionality of the software and will also have a special display type on the search page. It will be searched according to the data inserted into the Sitemap section of the Image Object and the search will work for this Object only.

I'll attach a few screenshots for clarity

I hope I was helpful

@ Stefano

Thank you very much!

So, this must be done by the IMAGE OBJECT (1 photo in 1 image object) and those images must be added in the SITEMAP, correct?

The SEARCH function would not work by using the GALLERY object? (which would be more practical for handling a large number of pictures).

Best!

Hi Sinisa

Yes, that is right. And also yes, I am afraid that this would only work on Image Objects for the moment.

Please do let me know if I can be of further help here

Thank you

Stefano

If I make a separate IDEA post which would tell that the SEARCH option should be included in the IMAGE GALLERY object - would it reach the developers?

Hello Sinisa

Every idea is notified to the developers. Every one of these topics that get opened is presented and discussed by them.

The actual implementation is a different story though. This can take much longer according to many factors that will be kept into consideration when evaluating particular feedback.

I strongly advise doing so. They are never ignored despite the fact that they might not be taken under consideration in a short time

I hope I was helpful and thank you for your dedication and interest in the software

Stefano

OK - I would very much like that the ideas & bug fixes posted by the community get a much promptly response by the R&D team. I have proposed many things  - in the bug-fixes domain - which are still - few months later - unsolved...

You know - I'm a marketing manager - and I know that new templates, new objects... are making money. That's cool and your clients should salute that - but fixing, for example, the e-commerce part would surely keep the current users and attract new ones from the "professional" webmaster's domain (not just the amateurs).

This means a lot broader customer pool - and much more stable income stream.

Hopefully the Incomedia's executives should consider this quite seriously (and rapidly) - because I have bought the licence because of the e-commerce part only (my company used a different WYSIWYG program - not so good like WSX5, but OK for our needs...).

You can imagine my disappointment when I could not not finish our e-shop (I still can't) because of the program lapses that could be fixed in a week (if someone sits down and do what she/he is supposed to do).

So, Stefano - I'm very skeptical that this (and other) ideas should come to fruition - but I would post this as an IDEA anyway.
